Cricket world cup discussion thread

Will be interesting to see them up against Sri-Lanka and Pakistan.

Yup, england and nz are hardly a test for anyone in the one day arena. Poor one day teams. Let's judge the aussies when they dominate top teams and not the rubbish of the cricket world :D.

They lucky to have been placed in an easier group with more minnows..... that will drive their confidence sky-high and make them feel like the world champions that they are .....

Scary.....

Bangladesh 'struggling' somewhat against the Irish 190/8 (47 overs)

South African leprechaun named Botha doing well. ;)

3/32 of 9 overs

Yeah. Irish have a chance of taking down a test playing nation. Must the influence of the Saffers :D

Yeah. 205 all out in 50th.

I fancy the Irish to spring a surprise here ;)

South Africa has an A,B,C, and D team.........

Nah, I think the Bangladeshies (is that how you spell it) are safe. 205 is totally defendable. Remember Ireland can't bat like the testplaying nations. Saying that, the Netherlands did score big against england and they are below Ireland in the rankings. But my money is still on Bangladesh.

George Dockrell..... teenage spinner took 2/23 in 10 overs. Bangladesh had a good start but let it all go to waste. Ireland FTW ;)

Yea i dunno hey, that is a very low total. It would not be an upset for the bangies to get nailed though, they are really not a good team bar one or two players.

The Bangladeshis beat us in the last world cup if i remember correctly and Ireland plays mostly against the other smaller nations where Bangladesh plays the other test playing nations a few times. I think that will make the difference.

ok maybe not like this
Abdur Razzak to Stirling, 1 run, dropped oh dear, not great cricket all round. Was dragged down very short, Stirling rocked back for the pull and picked out Raqibul at short midwicket who couldn't hang on. To be fair, he's very close and it was flying

Abdur Razzak to Stirling, OUT, gone! Bangladesh have the breakthrough and the crowd goes wild. A very full delivery almost yorked Stirling, he jabs down on it and it dribbles from his boot back towards Rahim. The batsman, meanwhile, has stumbled out of the crease and can't get back as the stumps are broken. The TV umpire is called but it was an easy decision
PR Stirling st †Mushfiqur Rahim b Abdur Razzak 9 (10b 1x4 0x6) SR: 90.00

First wicket

Why am I feeling nervous for Ireland? I am a Scot, dammit :D

Irelands strike run rate is good enough. Just a matter of sustaining it.

seeing a miss stumping and a dropped catch by Pakistan, how do we know that was not done on purpose?

edit: what about that no-ball?

It will take years before I will believe the Pakistani play is genuine.

That said, their chances of making the play-offs is good.

Really strong batting line-up with Ul-Haq, Younis and the Akmal brothers. Flare from Afridi and Razzaq to get the run rate up. Gul, Aktar and Afridi in the bowling department. And don't right of Rehman.

I am just disappointed Sri Lanka lost. I favour them over the Pakis by a long margin.
