Cricket world cup discussion thread

How does Cricket South Africas quota system work do you have 4 players of colour in the playing 11.

There is a target of 6/7 "coloured" players in the squad but there is no such limit for the playing 11. But there won't be an issue , we have enough good coloured players in india.

and a charou and a paki.

Sumthing tells me that Tahir is not a quota player and will be deemed 'white '....

Ask home affairs.

I'm guessing if we had a black Zim player playing for SA then he might also be deemed a non quota player.

Only is SA ;)

This is a blow for DSTV.What time do matches start-SA time?

According to the adverts all matched will be broadcast between SABC2 and SABC3. Haven't seen the official schedule yet though.
The SABC are only showing 37 (of 49) games and of those only 1 semi & 2 quarters plus the final. I think 37 included radio can't remember exact number for tv.
Edit: 32 on TV.

No big surprise. I recall them doing something similar in the previous WC - showing all the meaningless games involving the minnows, but very little else.

I guess they're too cheap/broke to shell out for broadcasting rights to the bigger games.

Not really, dstv's bread and butter is not world cup coverage. That is minor in terms of sporting events not covered by sabc.

Instead of bitching about their coverage people should be glad they are actually showing so many matches, bare in mind sabc costs like 200 bucks a year or something stupid.

Then they scramble to change scheduling if SA doesn't go through the anticipated route.

I heard a rumour last night that Michael Clarke is injured and has been largely written off for the tourney. I have no idea whether there's any truth to this as Google doesn't really give any concrete results. Can anyone confirm? He's going to throw a spanner in the works for my fantasy side if true.

Bangledesh have got off to a poor start. india were around 35 after 3 overs. they brought on A Razzak ( sl) and he has done brilliantly by stemming the flow of runs.
