Crime stats go online - for all

A move in the right direction. Now we just need ACCOUNTABILITY from the politicians.

Its still only using the publicly available data, so the stats are not necessarily correct.....

But yes, its a move in the right direction, even if its a small step in the right direction.

Small step yes - but maybe the babies are starting to try and walk Only by being active to combat crime, can crime be stopped.

The rest of this decade should be declared ZERO TOLERANCE OF CRIME.

.

The stats will STILL BE ONE YEAR OLD.

Here's what he promised:
Cachalia would resign if crime did not decrease
Cachalia launched "Operation Iron Fist" in July 2006, pledging to resign if it could be found that he had failed to do something about controlling crime levels. The strategy was to include increased police visibility, increased roadblocks, tracking down most wanted criminals, stepping up efforts to confiscate illegal firearms and improving skills at the 10111 emergency call centres.

The focus was to be on reducing business robbery, vehicle hijacking, cash in transit heists, taxi violence and residential burglary. The programme ended on January 11 and information on its effectiveness was expected at the end of January, an official in his office has said.

If Cachalia managed to reduce crime, he should be commended. If he failed, he should step down, Kohler-Barnard said. - Sapa

Now let's see them twist those figures in the nepotistic Cachalia household.

And after Iron Fist
Firoz Cachalia, Gauteng's MEC for community safety, will not resign. He denied promising to resign, adding it was the media who had reported "inaccurately and unfairly" six months ago.

"I said at the time that I would consider resigning if I came to the conclusion that there was something I could have done, but did not do."
