Made mention of this in another thread and came across an American version of what I think would work very well in this country.

What do you guys think? There would have to be some way of proving the crime though, like a case number or something.

Good idea. Only problem is that many victims don't have computer access or knowledge so keeping it up to date and accurate may prove difficult

Edit: I just realised that on CrimeReports.com they say they provide law enforcement agencies with an affordable and easy-to-use Web-based service for managing and controlling the sharing of crime data with the public, in near real-time.

If you could get the police stations here to buy into the idea that would be really good...
