So I had a Crispy Bacon and Chicken Mayo Sarmie from Sandwich Baron the other day - And the bacon was awesome - perfectly crispy, yet still edible and not burnt at all.

So my question is: How do you get your bacon nice and crisy? I have tried - and usually its rock solid and hurts your teeth or its burnt...

Also what type of bacon is best for getting crispy Bacon?

(Please no google links - I want to know what YOU do)

Thanks :)

Streaky bacon, i cut it up with scissors into fairly small pieces.
cooking in oven usually gets it crispy, otherwise frying in tons of oil

Buy streaky rindless bacon.
Little bit of sunflower oil in pan and a big dollop of unsalted butter. The oil helps the butter not burn. Stove plate heat on 6 out of 8, dunno if all the dials are the same?
Fry bacon normally. When the fat in the bacon reaches a golden brown colour remove and place on kitchen paper towel to get rid of the excess oil. Bacon would also have shrunk a lot by the time you remove it from the pan.

I find the butter makes a big difference and intensifies the flavour as well, don't even bother with margarine.

I often make myself BLTs or just plain crispy bacon sarmies.

I often make myself

American bacon is cut specially to be crispy - so it's much thinner and streakier than what you get here (and in the UK). I'm not sure how to get store bacon here crispy though.

If bacon is to be eaten for breakfast, it should still be soft. If it is to be used in a sandwich, it should be crispy.
