Ever since I started playing Burnout Paradise on PS3 I have been getting all those great feelings that console gaming brings to the table. And this post is in no way a bash at PC gaming. But Console gaming does have a certain charm that PC gaming just will never offer. IMO
This is the 3rd Burnout game I have played, and the first I have owned.
The only way to sum it up is that is a good fun, has great physics, beautiful visuals, mind numbingly quick action and yet manages to be a really good balance of arcade and simulation driving. No officially licensed cars, but I don't care. I love the mixed breed cars the developers put in, seeing bit of every car I have loved over the years. The game doesn't take itself seriously but manages to be insanely brilliant. So every credit is due to Criterion Games.
The most fun in gaming I have had in years. So being the info whore that I am I started digging for more info about them. Subsequently found out they were the developers of the engine used in GTA3, and that is the engine use din some way or form in all the Burnout games from the same era.
Then came the big news, that I missed before, only because I wasn't really looking.
Criterion are behind the new NFS Hot Pursuit game, and it looks incredible. So much so for me, that I have cancelled my GT5 pre-order and opted for a Hot Pursuit pre-order from BT. Might still get GT5 at some point, but I just don't want it any more. hehe
But go have a look here if you haven't seen it yet, http://www.criteriongames.com/NFS/
So just a post giving credit where I really believe it is due. Are there any other Criterion nutters around here?
