Story in a nutshell:
1. Teenager is assaulted.
2. Other teenagers get wind of it.
3. They tell their friends that assault was girls fault.

What can the parent of girl do in a situation like that.
Can they request parents of teenagers to stop rumours, is this legal?

Asking for a friend.

Need more context. Not sure what happened.

Was it a bunch of Boys beating on each other because of a Girl? Was it girls beating on each other because of a rumour by a girl. Or is it a rumour that there was a rumour?

Yeah critical info needed before critical advice can be given

Nothing and No.
If parents get involved it will make that girl a target. Also why would they randomly assault her if she didnt do anything wrong? Who is in the wrong here?

If this is serious, lay criminal charges against the teenagers that assaulted the girl. Press the school to take action and take it to the student governing body.

Be prepared to move the child to a new school if bullying gets out of control.

Kids fight, it is normal. What do you consider assault? Just because your kid lost the fight doesn't mean it is assault.

Once you get in a fight, rumors, dislike for the person, especially kids, it's pretty much game over. No amount of talking, punishment is going to fix the problem, Bullies are vengeful, spiteful brats, there might not retaliation by the bully it self, but they always get a proxy to play dirty.
Unfortunately there is only one way to deal with the issue, let the kid ignore the kids, don't entertain them, doesn't always work, or give your kid free reign to sort it out.I had to deal with a bunch of bullies in primary school once, tackled the idiot to the ground one day when he least expected it, and kicked him in the nuts to make sure he doesn't get up.Tell you what the shyte storm that followed was worth it as it stopped right there and then, got "6 van die beste" from the head master.

This talking crap doesn't work.....period.
