A sort of continuation of my previous thread, I reckon its time to try improve my photography skills. And without some criticism, how will that ever happen? :D So have at it, be ruthless. No point dancing around, otherwise I wont learn. Will be using pics from my build, since I think (or rather hope) some of them are decent :p And PCs are easy for me to photograph. People, and landscapes, and basically everything else, not so much, Maybe if I apply decent techniques with the stuff I am passionate about, I can carry it over into other areas :)

So this is my favourite

Cropped this one as I had too other stuff going on (small property = its always in the background haha)

And a night time shot. The LED colours are still a bit off, but the green sleeving is spot on, so I left the pic untouched. I think the composition (is that the right word?) is bad in this pic?

I think I did have it on for that one :p You looking for a bluer sky, or less reflections? Or something else I have yet to learn?

No the pic is ok, but the black can be darker, less reflective and yes a more menacing sky since your tower is "towering" over the camera and us!

Ah ok, I get what you're saying. Dont think I can get the blacks blacker though (without PS), the finish on the case is black gloss powder coating. My polarizer is also a cheapy, so perhaps its not as strong. Anyway, noted. I dont ever think of pictures in that way, its going to be a paradigm shift of note

Is it a linear polarizer or is it a circular polarizer>?

Just some quickies!

1. Your eye is usually drawn to the brightest areas first. I'd darken those spots on the right and do some localised levels adjustments on your subject to bring it out more.

2. The whole case is not in your shot so it suffers. Background is too busy for the type of look you're going for, I'd look for an elevated spot where you can just get a lot of sky in the bg, and you're gonna need some dramatic clouds!

3. I do like the exposure chosen but composition way too central. This would look great if it were shot at direct profile, right up against that wall like you have done. The light from the case will leak off onto the walls giving a nice effect to compliment your main subject but make sure there's enough negative space for the light to disappear into.

Ok... what about cropping the sides a bit (particularly the right side)? Will try out the adjustments at home

Yip, space constraints at my house :p But I fully get what you're saying

Ok confused! I'm not sure where you want me to take the shot from

Thanks, it all makes a lot of sense overall :)

Your focal point is on the right, so cropping off the right would make no sense. The lighting balance is not correct for your subject anyway so cropping won't solve it imo.

Profile means shot directly from the side.
