Which would you choose for a week long holiday?

I'd go to Croatia, especially if it is in the summer.

Get my history fix by visiting the medieval fortresses and cities while enjoying the awesome Mediterranean weather.

I mean, just look at Dubrovnik;

Argentina sounds like a great place to visit. Definitely on my list of places to visit.

If you choose Croatia, then definitely get to Split..its a gorgeous town...

Actually come to think of it, there is a cruise ship that does the Croatia coast which is apparently awesome.

From what I've read, Sep/Oct is still a good time to go. The weather is a bit milder, day time temps in the early 20s and the nights can be a bit chilly, but everything is still open (coastal towns are seasonal, so lots of places close when it gets cold), the sea is still swimmable and the crowds are thinning out so you probably get to see a little more.

Ive been to Croatia, I went end October

Dubrovnik
Beautiful place, great hotels at amazing prices, old town can easily soak up a few of your days.
There is enough to do, the beachfront places were quite quiet though, possibly it only gets busier later in the year
Ožujsko is a pretty good beer
ladies are ludicrously beauitful

Split
Dead average place, pretty small, we stopped by there for a day in between 2 other locations, i wouldnt really go here

Plitvika
We went here for the plitvice lakes, there is a great hotel right in the reserve. Spent 4 days here and it was very relaxing, not much to do but chill, hike, have drinks at night but was what we wanted at the time.

Not from my experience, I might be a little unfair, we stopped there in between driving from Plitvice to Dubrovnik, but I didnt see anything special there besides some seriously beautiful woman and loads of Adidas tracksuits

Hmm, were me, if I'd been to Europe and not South America I'd do Argentina. No Visa required, cool place. Watch a local derby soccer game if you can. The stadiums, literally, shake.
And if I'd been to South America and not Europe, Croatia. Very pretty, moderate weather.
Haven't been to either? You say you've got a week? Then probably Europe - can fit more in in a shorter space of time. South America, cos of the distances, reckon you'd need a bit more time.

Why , stunning scenery if going to the right location and safe if camping.

I also recall flights to croatia being really expensive for some reason, maybe double check, but its now standing out in my head as cheap when we got there, expensive to get there

Tbh, I just looked up if prostitution was legal in both countries and Argentina beats them there. After that thrashing in the group stages the Argentines can at least take consolation in that.

Croatia is on the same time-zone as SA, so no Jet lag..... might sound silly but if you are only going for a week you don't want to spend the first whole day sleeping / tired.

Dubrovnik was very Touristy, but was still beautiful and personally I wasnt that impressed by Split.

I was there for 3 weeks 2 years back. We started at Zagreb and went all the way down to Dubrovnik. Amazing country.

If you go to Croatia, you *must* visit Plitvice lakes. MUST!
