So many titles at the moment seem to appear on multiple platforms and even all platforms. Many of them even have online play.... BUT I have yet to see a game that exists on different platforms but allows users from different platforms (ie PC and PS3) to play online together.

Tell me that's not worth the effort ? At the moment DC Universe online has been released on both PS3 and PC but they have separate servers, how cool would it be if your ps3 mates could play on the same servers as you ? Perhaps this would even help bridge the fanboy devide... or even better they could take it online and see what platform is better.
An even better example is Mario Kart, the game is exactly the same on Wii and DS you even have the same maps ! So why the hell can't you have wii and DS gamers racing each other ?

Don't tell me its impossible... nothing is impossible.

Does anyone know of a game that actually allows this ? (and no I don't mean MAC and PC/linux)

Portal 2 is coming.

LoL, start your own thread. ;)

I would assume it's because they work differently. Let me try to explain: In COD, the console boys have aiming help (from what I have year) and us PC guys don't. So it would be unfair playing against a console boy, since he can't really miss. :D

Well, that what I think.

In portal 2 ps3 players will be able to play with pc players.

It's more like the PC guys will pwn the console guys with a mouse+keyboard combo.
Console controller is nowhere near as accurate or fast.

Ok, I understand that... having not really played on the ps3 and xbox I don't know exactly how different they are.

This doesn't apply to all games though... there must be some incentive to do something like this.

Is Portal 2 going to be co-op ? I'm really looking forward to it.

I did not know that. :)

Yes, it's going to have co-op. Saw a video of it yesterday. Seems that you will now how to alter the shape of the cubes to complete some obstacles and you can see through them now as well...

Res of image a bit high, so I rather posted the link.

PC games have cheaters that use 3rd party hacks on public servers. Maybe that's one reason, they don't want the cheaters ruining it for console gamers since they're less likely to play on private servers than PC gamers.

It has been done before though. Shadowrun is the only one I can think of. PC gamers had gimped aiming to help even things up but I think that annoyed the PC gamers.

Also, I believe Microsoft's license for Xbox developers is very restrictive, it might prevent developers from doing this.

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition is another cross platform game between pc and x360. There was a general feeling going around that the more "hardcore" x360 gamers would not play with the pc gamers as the mouse's sensitivity gave them an "advantage" with faster aiming.

I just recently got Shadowrun as it was on a GFWL special for 1 dollar \0/

Cool idea.

About the 'nothing is impossible' bit try out licking your armpits (see here http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/304649-Armpit-Hair) and see if it's possible.

Hey Angemon, hows shadowrun ? Looked interesting but never got round to it.

Isn't this possible with the xbox360 and Games 4 Windows Live? If both players have access to Live?

I think the game is loads of fun and I love teleporting through walls to surprise ambush the enemies haha! It is just a pity that Microsoft closed FASA Studies so now the game and all support is pretty much abandoned and I have not found anyone to multi with.

It's a great concept, multi - platform - co-play. It would help bridge the gap, as my friend has an Xbox, i have PS3, and it would be great to compete against each other on specific games. But we can't. The other alternative is dual screen support, instead of cr@ppy split screen. Unless you have a 50" gaming screen, split screen sucks.
