Crossed Data Line on ADSL .... anyone had this ?

I can't connect and my ISP tells me it's because the connection is not coming from my home line but from another (similar) number and sent me a printout to show this.
I called Telkom who ran some checks and says my ISP is lying and the connection number definitely is my home number.

Then went online to m y ISP and changed the account settings to allow the new number and now it all works. This new number seems to be a fax number when I call it.
If I call my cell from my landline it shows my normal home number .

What gives ? Can anyone shed light on this ?

I had a similar issue actually last week, they plugged my adsl line into someone else's port so i had 384 instead of 4 meg. My phone line would ring but i could not call out.

They have plugged your line into someone's else's line i would imagine.

I can phone out fine and my router indicates my line is connecting correctly at 4Mbps
