Hi
I have the hd7950, the powercolor one (and overclocked lekker high) . Now im thinking of crossfire it...since 2 x 7950 beat the 780 as i read some reviews and everyday users post.

Witch come to R6200 for the 2 x 7950... dont think their is a card of even R8500+ to beat the 2.

What u lot of south africans think? lol

Single GPU configurations are recommended, because it has a lot less issues.

When you're only playing on 1920x1080, you won't really need more computing power than a single overclocked HD7950. If you're playing at 2560x1600 or Eyefinity over 3x 1920x1080 screens, then it will be worth it to upgrade.

When you want to run CrossFire, you also need to take into consideration whether your case, PSU and motherboard supports it.
I'd recommend that you only use SLI/CrossFire when you have 3+ PCI/PCI-E slots inbetween the 2x PCI-E 16x slots that you're going to use, so that you'll have at the very least 1 slot's worth of space between the graphics cards, which will drastically reduce the temperature of the cards.
You'll typically need a 750W+ PSU if you want to run SLI/CrossFire, because the lower end ones simply doesn't have enough connectors or they'll make a lot of noise under such high loads.

People complain about microstuttering when using SLI/CrossFire, but I'm perfectly happy with my 2x GTX460 setup @ 2560x1600 (vsync enabled to get rid of tearing).
I went for 2x GTX460's, because the price difference between 2x GTX460 and a single GTX480 was huge. It does look awesome to have 2 graphics cards :D

The performance is great, but it entirely depends on the games you're playing and your screen resolution. Tell us a little bit more about the rest of you rig.

AMD FX-6300 6 core running 4.4 , 8gb patriot 1600 ram, vertex 4 128gb SSD, hd7950 3GB running 1100/1500, 750w PSU , MSI 970A-G46 mb...need more info?

how's your pc running, I'm considering building either a fx 6350 or the fx 8350. The Intel stuff are too expensive for me

its running good...beat any i3 on market and some i5's :)..yes rand/performance amd ftw

Between those two get the fx6350 as it provides the best bang for buck, on a gaming rig the fx8350 wont offer much more. This is according to reviews i've read.

Also look at the 8320 & OC it

Yeah, I need this...

the games you're playing and your screen resolution.

There's a specific reason why you need to list the games you're playing, because AMD's fixes for Crossfire don't work for every title yet, nor do they work for DirectX 9 games.

Go for the FX-8320 instead. The other two processors are victims of hideous pricing thanks to our current exchange rate. The only other FX processor that makes sense financially is the FX-6300. If you're building an entirely new rig, the FX-8350 is only recommended if you have the budget for it. Otherwise, there's no reason to choose it.

Battlefield 3 and 4 will work well with Crossfire and SLI rigs as EA has both AMD and Nvidia helping out with various development studios. DICE's hardware partner has been AMD for the past year, so you're set for that.

ARMA II with the DayZ mods won't see very many updates to Crossfire. I don't know how well it works, but I know that AMD hasn't announced any work on it. Its an old game and doesn't see much action on its own aside from DayZ.

As for Generals 2, neither AMD nor Nvidia have announced anything for it. I wouldn't expect Crossfire support on day one either.

And you're on 1080p. Crossfire won't display any performance benefits unless you have a 30" monitor or a monitor capable of 120/144Hz. Stick to a single HD7950 for now, it'll give you less grey hairs.

CrossFire & SLI gives a dramatic FPS increase in BF3 - or at least mine with my 2x GTX460's almost doubled !

Do you play online? If so you don't want to be playing on ultra. You should rather invest in a monitor capable of 120hz. I assume you play online, who would want to blow that kinda of cash on the single player aspect :D.

I have set it on ultra and then low and honestly i cannot tell the difference online. Sure maybe the buildings look pretty but to me high fps is better than a game looking amazing, where as on mid to low bf 3 looks amazing and i run a 6990. If you want ultra settings just buy another card and gooi it but even with a 6990 i don't have AA or anything special on, everything is low or medium apart mesh which is on ultra.

You are wasting your money in my opinion but if you want everything on ultra buy a second card. Crossfire works just fine and gives you almost double the FPS. Buying nvidia right now would something only a fanboy would do with dx 11.1 nvidia are out the game for bf 4.

killa, u killa from bf 1942 days?
