So i been to two matches so far. The opening game and last night Ivory Coast vs Brazil.

There are not that many local black supporters - if anything most of the crowd was White or Indian.

Do you think this is because of price? Or just a lack of interest?

The system dude, how many of the working class blacks have the internet or a computer?

How do you expect a minimum wage guy to go online and buy tickets when they more than likely cannot even operate a computer nor do they have a credit card.

How many can afford to go sit in a queue for 7 hours on a working day?

mmmmm killa I dont think you've been to too many corporate offices recently ;)

I've been to 3 games, and noticed teh same thing. I think that it is mostly to do with the prices. R140 is cheap for a WC, but PSL games often cost R20 and Bafana games R40, at least here in PE.

Even the fan parks in Sandton and Melrose Arch and Centurion... more whites and Indians...

Been to a few games and noticed the same thing. Funny thing (not being racist, just and observation), is that most of the people going bezerk with the Vuvuzela's is the Whites :D and foreigners. Its like a new toy and they were having a ball with it.

I wont be surprised if we start hearing the Vuvu in the EPL and other leagues around the world. Eevry tourist in that stadium had a vuvuzela!

Yes. That is the point of the thread.

Do you really have to comment when you have nothing to add?

Owned.

I would put it down to ticket pricing as well as the lack luster performance of Bafana.

Yip, there were 15 000 vuvuzelas at a Florida Marlins (baseball) game yesterday.

I was talking about low earning people who pack local soccer stadiums when celtic play or the soweto derby comes around. Not talking about middle to high class black/white folk.

The ticket system favored those that have the means to book them.

Eh yeah what else where you expecting? You actually believed this whole charade of the WC being held here for the benefit of millions of poverty stricken black South Africans.

Ticket purchases have really not been consumer friendly, so the man in the street has my empathy! My colleague applied on behalf of me and 3 others for Cape Town games. Starting about 3 months ago, he applied about 3 or 4 times for us (before they allowed over the counter sales). We didn't get any tickets even though we were willing to take CAT2 or lower.

In the end we each had to get our own tickets by whatever means possible. I got to see 1 game, last week Italy v Paraguay, CAT2 tickets. I really did not want to pay R840 to see a WC game as I am not even into soccer, but if i wanted to be part of the experience that was the price tag due to Fifa and Match's crappy retarded booking systems...

I will never understand people who complain like that. You started 3 months ago? Ticket sales opened in January 2009, dammit. Anyway, people also seem to also 'forget' that you could buy tickets at FNB branches from phase 1, no internet needed.

I know heeeeeeeey! Proof that 15000 Vuvuzelas can empty a stadium and help your team lose at the same time.

The Marlins suck, and they have **** attendance, if anything the vuvuzelas helped them make some money.

OK, sorry, correction, we started maybe 6 months ago.

Anyways, I've admitted I'm not a die hard fan so obviously if i had been more of a fanatic I would have been clued up about it and trying to get tickets from phase 1, over a year ago.

But tell me why on earth should it be so difficult to buy tickets? Why should we have to beg and throw money at Fifa hoping to be allocated tickets in order to attend a game? I know plenty of die hard fans who have been applying since Phase 1 and have been even more frustrated than me with Match and Fifa?

@OP, sorry we have gone off topic here.
