Crows are fascinating creatures indeed!

I would love to keep one as a pet but I fear my cats would have it for lunch! :p [/URL]

If you have it from young I doubt they would do anything to it. Cats seem to leave other house pets like parrots, cockatiels, hamsters & mice alone. There must be some weird code between them :D

Oh crows are very intelligent I watched a documentary on how they learn to peck out toad livers so they don't get poisoned eating the whole toad and how they learnt to crush walnuts using a predestrian cross and collecting the nuts only when the robot is red so they don't get knocked. If I can find a youtube link for this documentary I will post It later

Also saw one where they pull fish out the water from those guys that drill holes in the ice and leave the lines unattended. Also think I saw them using sticks to collect insects or something.

... and a group of them is called a "murder" of crows :-)

BTW a mealie farmer told me that crows do an enormous amount of damage to his crops. he says that anyone can walk through the mielie fields and the crows couldn't care less. however, when he tries to sneak up on them with a rifle there isn't a crow in sight!

:D My one cat is a complete hooligan, destroys anything that moves, not sure if it's safe to risk it :o But would love to try one as a pet one day!

I found another documentary :D

I once tried to make a talking crow to say Nevermore at the zoo and he said "F*** you, you got the wrong bird."

Nice one.

Love observing birds in general.

Yesterday morning I watched a crow flying very very hard against the wind and almost being swept into traffic by the N2 Somerset-West off-ramp, it must have spotted some delicious road-kill.

I have seen them fly in flocks and in formations, squawking pleasantly and harassing a local falcon.

My home born cockatiel Vlerkies, my very close companion for over 10 years, flew away 6 weeks ago through a tiny opening in a window just at late sunset and before an icy cold front arrived. I think she froze to death that very evening. I will never forget her and think of her all the time.

I love birds, and always will.

My pretty Vlerkies

If they were just not so naughty, I would have loved one as a pet
