Is it possible for us to see something like this in the near future with CW? I remember we discussed this a month or two ago, Axxess monitors this page closely it seems. :D It's a real pity that CW could not be the first to offer this service though when it was suggested. :(

Once reading a bit through the thread it seems that Axxess can get a lot of legal grief regarding this Dns service. So I can quite understand why some ISP's don't want to adopt something like this. What do you think Paul/DJ?

I think that any ISP caught offering such a service risks their entire IP range being blocked by the provider whose restrictions they are bypassing, and are playing a dangerous game. In addition, once the ISPs start doing it, the providers may consider blacklisting the entire SA sub ranges.

This is very simple to introduce, and we considered it. But decided against it as becoming complicit in the process while specifically marketing is as a service intended for Netflix and a few others is just asking for trouble.

Looks like a desperate attempt by Axxess to draw in new customers. They so desperate they willing risk legal recourse and being labelled as an ISP that supports copyright infringement.
 
They're not supporting copyright infringement at all though. That's not a risk they need to worry about. The risk is more that their IP range is blocked. Or that broadcasters file suit for facilitating infringing on their licensing...
 
Anyone here tried vidi yet? Looks great for me, just content wise I am not sure how it compares with my current Netflix sub.

When I read the article, I thought of these very same implications.

I hope they have a good legal team when nasspiss goes after them.

On the referral, why not give the new member a once off incentive as well Uber stylel, like a 10% off for the first month?

I just have to brag about something ; I've seen many guys on here with their 10mbps lines hitting between 7-8mbps. I was chuffed with 8.7mbps but last night I was flying at over 9mbps on Speedtest. I was getting over 1MB/sec downloading a driver :)

I doubt that Netflix will block the ISP. Our $8 is just as good to them as an American's $8. Netflix could find out someone's (who is using Unotelly) IP address in a heartbeat if they really wanted to. A few lines of code in their app would do it.

Netflix has copyright agreements with the various production companies that limit territorial access. If they are knowingly in breach of those the production companies will sue/cancel agreements and Netflix will have no content. EU Netflix content is way different to US. Unfortunately, even though the internet makes such things irrelevant, region-locking is still a way to make more money out of customers.

I don't know what business model Netflix uses, but I'm pretty sure that the more subscribers Netflix has, the more they pay the production companies, who are not complaining. Unotelly and other DNS services are well known. So, yes they are already knowingly in breach of the copyright agreements. It would be a simple exercise for Netflix to filter out territorial areas.
