Operation Phoenix ended last night much to my disappointment.
I've been playing the maps almost exclusively besides competitive play where it's all classic maps.
I now find myself feeling a bit lost.
I tried to play a classic map deathmatch last night and it couldn't even find a server to join.

Is there going to be a similar pack released soon?

The operations are now a regular thing. I managed to get 3 Howls from the update and I'm happy. The next operation is set to drop sometime next month, hoping to see the return of Cache and Agency.
Add me on Steam and we can jam too, @ thetimeislater, username is "Silver (exams)"

Didn't realize there were different maps for these 'operation' things! Never bought one haha. Maybe I'll try the next one. Love CS:GO, but mostly play the casual classic maps on our local servers.

Que for competitive games as well, will match you with local guys with similar skill level to yours (once you win 10 games, you'll get a rank), way more fun that those casual games

Wow, you missed some awesome fun then.
the Operation Phoenix pack had 12 or 10 of the favorite Workshop maps.
There are some maps in there that I am really missing.

I think the thing I enjoyed the most was the focus on Deathmatch gameplay.
that being said, I have now found a nice local DM server, granted it's for the standard maps but imo it all helps towards competitive accuracy anyway.
I found myself spending time on Phoenix maps and became rusty on the classic maps which is bad considering casual and competitive are all played on Classic maps.

I have now seen my skill level shoot up by just spending more time focusing on classic.
I think it also has to do with the local DM server being occupied by mostly good players not like EU or US servers where you get a majority of ****ty kids or not so great players.
It gives you a false sense of skill imo.

As much as I enjoy competitive I find it tough to play them unless I have time to spare.
You can't just quit out of them, you have to seem them through for 30 rounds.

Sounds awesome. I mostly play to chill which is why I've typically just stuck to casual. Will definitely give competitive a spin this week though, as well as the next 'operation' that comes out! I'm fully aware of how the game rules differ between casual/comp, but I've always assumed comp servers are for clan matches and the like - are you required to use mics or anything like that?

Not required to have a mic.
I don't use a mic.

If you're into DM/casual/aim, etc. then also check out the local servers.
Go to browse community servers and sort them by latency.
It will sort the SA servers first and you can choose from there.

Add me on Steam, ElectricTrueform

Thanks for the info re comp play; doesn't sound so hectic then. I already play purely on the local servers, I'm even fussy about CPT vs JHB haha - 45ms vs 15ms makes a big difference in my experience. Will add you this eve. :)

Not required, helps a **** load though:p One of the major keys in winning 5 vs 5 is teamwork, and teamwork with total strangers is done best through communication lol

If you can type quick commands it's not the end of the world.

I am having issues with my trade window in CS staying too small to be usable.
Does anyone know how to solve this?

if you're using in game overlay, probably related to the resolution you're playing at, if it's using the steam client then you can resize it. PM me on Steam if you need help.
