i doubt it could be interrupts, non-usb keyboards use IRQ 2 mostly which isnt allocated to anything else. can you try perhaps borrowing a USB keyboard and see if it makes a difference with which ports you use?

I still think it is a CPU/Bot pathing issue, but useless is more knowledgeable then me when it comes troubleshooting.
