CSGO Sticky thread

I feel like AWPing might be a tad risque for me with ~3x the latency of all the other players around me. But I should probably give it a go sometime and see what I am missing out on :)

What I find frustrating as a new player is that there is sometime a big imbalance in skill levels, probably due to the smurfing.
As far as I'm aware there is no skill balancing in casual. You could be stuck in there with a Global Elite.

^, reported.

:p

I don't like standing there...when I spawn and I'm not on the edge of the spawn, I get annoyed. It means I can't rush long A or tunnels and try to get an early pick.

yes...I die alot within the first 20 seconds :p

I only do it if I don't have the long spawn. I have noticed though that as of late, CT get to long before T does so something changed.

Actually, the higher the ping the better your awping will be. Don't know why but it does. I think you get the data after they have passed already and it still registers. The quick peaks will be an issue though.

Think you're right about long A...used to be able to get their first but now I sometimes get there with 3 cts. Either they spawned on top of each other or the timing changed somehow.

No chance of that happening with Telkom LTE :crylaugh:

:), I sometimes forget I'm on wireless (my default network) when I log into the server. The pings are fine on wireless (<100ms) but the odd packet gets lost here and there and then **** goes wrong very quickly :p

I switch over to ADSL after that.

Plenty of the okes I have jammed with have sub-30ms ping which I assume would be fibre users?

I get that on ADSL on good days (low congestion).

There was a guy on last night playing with 700 ping...almost impossible to know if you've killed him or not, have to keep shooting for a bit till you know who died :)

Yeah I have seen the occasional spike with other players where they jump up to 500ms. Plenty of rubberbanding.

LTE usually sits around 98 - 105, I have seen 113 at one stage which I think was the highest I have seen. But the game is immensely fun, despite frustrating every now and then. I've even converted my League of Legends-playing colleague who doesn't usually play FPS games :)

I usually play on a stable 5-15ms ping on Mweb, my backup AH account is anywhere between 5-50ms. Assuming that everything is a-ok and that you are playing on an optimum server. Then, like last night, you have games where the connection is erratic, my ping was volatile with every second comp that I played. 50-999ms ping, it throws me completely.

I used to get 5ms ping on Bitco (WISP)

Yoh, that is a good ping on a wireless service. Eons ago I used to have wireless, the COD days, 80-120ms local. Lol.

I had a game a while back with ping like that. I bought a negev and aced because nobody could hit me. I was teleporting around holding down left-click :D

Been practicing with the AWP and SSG08 vs bots on Dust2 this arvie and my snap shooting is improving, but against real foes I am sure it will be a different result. But I am actually not doing too badly, so I might try it in Casual soonish.

I also tried my hand at Comp tonight which didn't go so well. We played Dust2 and got annihilated. One oke on our team kept on talking (motormouth) so we struggled to hear footsteps. I ended up 2nd on our log ITO kills but it wasn't enough. I also have to get used to the notion of buying armour and a defuse kit (something which is a given in Casual) and also budgeting for weapons. It was a good experience, I can see why people are so anal about rank and all that but I will stick to casual for now and hone my skills

Mute the arse. Comp is team based, it is up to the team to pick a caller to make the call on buying. But yah, Silver, Nova... YOLO.

Very much team based, two of the guys I know personally...the other two were unknowns. One played alright, the other was a squeaker and had VD:twisted:

Tesk, not all of us can be LEM :D

I have been stuck in the Novas after the rank changes. Feels so band moving from DMG and now can't even get out of Nova :o

Squeakers... Grrr. Those irritate me to no end. "Please buy me an AWP, I'll get the pick mid". Half a round later: "please pick up an AWP for me, mine is in spawn still". I just mute them these days. Often I even just turn my sound off all together when the team gets out of hand.

^F**k me, you just described it spot on.

I was last man standing and walked past an AWP in the one round (I had the Scar20 at the time) and man did I get shouted at for not picking it up before the round ended.

So I told him if he wanted it so bad he should stay alive longer and get it himself :D
