This is the worst I have seen... sort of put me off that this can go on for weeks before it gets stopped, if it does get stopped.

Lol? How? I've never seen anything that blatant in comps I've played in - someone in the lobby must have terrible trust or something.

From round 1, nogal.

@Fulcrum29 I was looking at the Fidelio X2's for a Christmas present for myself. How's yours been going?

Either that imported or the Sennheiser HD599 local.

Just myself and Rags. We are the most trustworthy. Mm was taking long though so we were obviously scraping the bottom of the barrel...

I love my X2's, but they aren't 'gaming' headphones unless the title is designed with an atmospheric soundstage in mind like Death Stranding, RDR2, GTA, open-world games in general, it also embraces titles like CoD, but you don't want to be in awe whilst you should track. So yeah, the same with music, it likes the waves, it likes base.

The 599 will be the better all-rounder, and the Sennheiser's in that range up to the 660 S are designed with soundstage in mind. It is the better option.

I see the X3 have now had a massive price cut, coming in now at $199, but they are like the X2, but improved in every way. The 9600's, people are starting to love them, and many are in the opinion that they have replaced the X2, but have maintained the 9500's attack. So yeah.

I won't replace by 9500's unless they break or have money to purchase a 660 S.

Just remember, there is still the Beyerdynamic headphones. Just ask Cav what he is using at the moment. He have upped his 'gaming' audio.

You do have a DAC right? People can tell me what they want about PC motherboard DAC's, but a cheap $50 will still demolish even the best current implementations on a PC motherboard. I mention this due to the 599 being a 75 ohm headphone it would like a cleaner output.

Wait until Black Friday, maybe you can pick up a Tygr 300 R combo. I would love to have a Tygr to use as gaming headphones, but they aren't readily available.

I bitch about cheaters who use 'legitimate' cheats, those who applies measures to hide their cheats because they are worse than blatant cheaters. As seen in that review, those players even discuss their hacks. I don’t think Valve bans cheaters any more unless the exploit is known within VAC. The Reddit Overwatch thread... looks bad, and Valve bans accounts now when you name and shame in the Steam community. Cheaters have Jacob Zuma like protection, and it isn’t helped by the rather larger anti-cheat community.

We will have to see, maybe Valve I planning something big to cull cheaters. They won’t do any updates while a Valve sanctioned competition is going on. I didn't even think that IEM was going ahead with all the new COVID precautionary measures in Europe.

@Neoprod, did you see Kenny's TK on Niko

That TK is a legit MM play

I can play. Otherwise back on the destiny grind

I see you are playing it again, but I have moved MMO aside, yes, Destiny is in the MMO genre. I don't even play the Division 2 any more. The only games I am playing are Assassin's Creed, playing them all, and Borderlands 3.

Not looking for headphones for gaming specifically though I'll probably try them for that - general listening while at my desk or at night for movies. I'm also happy with the 9500's for games.

The only thing stopping me from getting the Sennheisers is I kinda know what they're going to sound like already - their tuning has been the same for a long time. A mild V-shape with slightly-recessed mids - that's their signature for the headphones I've owned over the years and it doesn't make me excited to plonk down 4 grand for it. I'll take a look at what people say about the Beyerdynamics and see what's what.

I'm using ye auld Asus external DAC/amp (since 2013-2014) - the headphone amp is under-powered but the SHP's don't need much and it outputs to even older Logitech Z2300's when I want to make a noise. A better amp might be an idea and then headphones later.

Just remember, headphones are all for personal preference and not everyone is tuned the same. I know many people who prefer DT 770/880/990 over similarly classed Sennheisers.

Philips did something remarkable with the 9500, 9600, X2HR and X3, but they are most definitely not all-rounders, but fantastic in particular areas.

People who ask me for advice on headphones for gaming, the only two I recommend as entry are the 9500 and if you want to buy local get the ATH-M40x (and sometimes you can get them for a very affordable price), otherwise if you WANT gaming headphones the options are limited to the Cloud II (if you can get them), MH751/752 or any of the Sennheiser, sorry EPOS, gaming headphones if that is your desire, but I would recommend the two Coolermaster's one which has a surround sound external DAC.

If you want a stereo headphone with an optimal DAC and surround sound, ask @Cav5034, he can give you a review.

Prod, if you are going to get Byerdynamics, also for the use of gaming, then 80 ohms are the 'exact' sweet spot. For some reason, people are under the illusion that the more the ohms the better the experience, uhm... no, because you need to amplify it to get the most, well, most is the wrong word, but I am trying to be layman here, out of it and amplification isn't necessarily good for gaming, and speaking of amplification, the topic is wider than the selection of headphones. You can have the exact same DAC chip in the two different products, and they won't be the same. I am not going to have that discussion here.

Did you not see what Cav posted about his game? Why would you do that to yourself?

I see ATK in Cape Town is launching a estore, and will be partnering with Logitech. I don't know the details.

This has been a long time coming. I decided to change my participation status on Mybroadband to lurk status, taking a step back. I am still going to be around, but not schitpost all day.

So, anyone who wants to play CS or any other game, message me on Steam.

GLHF.
