CSGO Sticky thread

This game keeps causing my PC to hang...Game freezes, I can windows key back and then when you try alt+ctrl+del the task manager doesnt come up and you have to reset....I get a black screen with only the task bar showing at the bottom.

Anyone else getting this issue? Can happen at any time, during a game, during load out or just after being killed.
Is not regular either, been playing since 5 and only getting this problem now. Yesterday was fine.

Happened to me now in two games. In both a competitive and casual game. It is like a server disconnect without the warning. According to the players in my competitive lobby, it didn’t happen to them.

I had this last night, but nowhere as bad as today? It could be that the issue is related to the ISP. No black screen though, no need to exit, it comes right...

I was wondering if it isnt something to do with the server/ISP. As mentioned its not at all regular. Had no issues Satruday when I played. But there was an update I think on Saturday?

I won't know, but the game seems broken in places, and there is most certainty something wrong with how packets are sent and received. I had an up close spray down in my comp match tonight, emptied an entire clip with every tracer painting the player, and only one hit registered. So yeah. Feeling a bit robbed.

I can't even watch the demo :(

Sigh noobs all around. If I don't get blocked, half the team is still selecting weapons by the time the bomb is planted, or they follow you around like elephants making as much noise as possible, don't smoke or molly and when they do smoke and molly it is in the worse possible places, you get a team flash and you get a team flash, everyone gets a team flash........sigh...

I am not sure - I did hear something was removed

Valve removed those commands in the recent updates. All legacy convars have been removed, as noted by data miners, and then noted that these commands never worked in CS2. For those who think that it upgraded their CS2 experience, it was all placebo.

Valve made it clear that they will be hardcoding what was once customisable to standardize the experience.

The only new command that Valve themselves announced is,

engine_low_latency_sleep_after_client_tick true

BUT, it can cause issues. It is also not compatible with all Nvidia options like GPU scheduling.

As can be read here:

engine_low_latency_sleep_after_client_tick

When r_low_latency is enabled, this moves the low latency sleep on tick frames to happen after client simulation.

And as noted:

It seems that you would need to cap your FPS too.

The latest patch notes are also out:

Release Notes for 10/2/2023

[ GAMEPLAY ]
  • Removed movement penalty on mud surfaces

[ GRAPHICS ]
  • Fixed a bug with shader compilation when connecting to a server that was causing hitches after connecting. Note that these hitches may still exist on AMD GPUs; we are working with AMD to address this

[ ANIMATION ]
  • Fixed a bug where knife slashing couldn't be interrupted with an inspect
[ MISC ]
  • Various bug fixes and tweaks to weapon finishes and gloves
  • Fixed a case where molotov/incendiary grenades would create a fire ring in the air
  • Improved performance of molotov/incendiary fire extinguishing
  • Various improvements to weapon dropping and throwing
  • Various crash fixes

Do you really need all these commands? I just play and everything seems okay...

Binds are the only essential commands that everyone needs to use. I haven't used binds in a long time now. My autoexec includes only mouse and radar settings which you can set in game, and IRRC Valve will now allow other settings to be set by code, like with your crosshair. Not sure, but I saw it Tweeted.

I can't help but chuckle at this. Many pros have long held the view that cheating isn't a problem in CS, and now that they are giving CS2's Premier a go, they are starting to sound like the casual player group.

This is a recent video showing Ropz playing,

but I have watched other pros and streamers play, and they moan about the slightest things not going their way, lol. Yes, their games are plagued by cheaters, welcome to legit cheats.

They are most certainly being trolled by the cheating community:

Fl0m regularly gets cheaters, though he is also quick to point to walling where it is more suspicious than anything else. Though that is why Overwatch is there which isn't active at this time.

Many cheats are out,

Furthermore, it has been reported that Aimware has been detected yesterday. The evidence points to Overwatch bans. Overwatch isn't live. I think the cheating community is trolling. I checked Aimware's site and they haven't noted anything.

I hope that it is true though. At this time there are some big trading accounts also being banned, many have hours by the thousands in CS. Why I don't know, but some have level 10 FACEIT accounts.

Oh well lets hope for the best. I never once had the urge to cheat with online Multiplayer ever, and have never cheated online ever. I have on occasion used "cheats codes" in single player games, when I was in the mood to muck about like GTA vice city or Duke 3D.

I would like to understand why people need to cheat in MP games, what is the goal or purpose of it, what do you gain from it. I cheat because I can, doesn't really answer the question.

For those who do have issues with FPS drops. A not so recommended attempt at mitigating FPS drops is to use the Vulkan API. Vulkan, however, is not optimal. DX11 gets way better FPS than Vulkan, but Vulkan have higher 1% lows. Try it out, but don’t go straight into competitive mode with it.

To use Vulkan you need to add it as a launch option:

-vulkan

This is experimental, and not a solution.

As shown with the latest patches, there has been an FPS decrease:

It is not indicative since specs vary and that the sample size is only 1.

I like those videos where the guy goes after the cheaters in RUST...got some aggro chickens...

All I know is that the game is being held hostage by a very toxic and rather large cheating community. Perhaps Shroud was right, CS2 will spell the end to the game's tenure. Valve also only speaks to their community through patch notes...

I do think that Valve needs to introduce a kernel system level anti-cheat. It is not that intrusive unless it is being exploited. They can build their machine learning anti cheat as a second layer.

You will still have cheaters, but the devs creating those cheats will have a harder time to maintain those cheats and that comes at a price that most will not have access to.

CSGO had some ancient undetected cheats that anyone could get on Github without paying a cent. Not as good as the premier cheats, but sure Valve was aware? Though the user had to be a bit more advanced, knowing how to conceal those cheats without getting VAC banned. CS2 also now has cheats anyone can download. I'm not going to link to them.

It is also very easy to buy a reputable account with many hours and medals. Fake inventories continue to be a thing, people with trading links are being scammed by these all the time.
