CSGO Sticky thread

Eish, so all the prep-work for the new year hey?

Sort of. This year I’m changing things up in my life. Returning to the game of rugby and picking up boxing again for fitness purposes. I am already training 5 days a week. Allocate more time to be with my son.

Me being pashaBiceps :p

Thankfully I have flexible working hours, but it is structured in a way that I am a night owl.

All of this means less time playing CSGO, every 2nd weekend being the exception, but I have a social life too.

No worries bru I understand.

I'm only playing for a bit because I have quiz night tonight :D

Last night I solo'ed with a mostly DMG ranked team, had two derankers on the team. This is annoying now and I would had thought that Prime would bring more balance to the general mindset that people have playing competitively.

I have no idea why people want to be ranked high, being carried there, and then to derank others because it is too hot up there.

Go play a casual game.

Yeah Its stupid, For some people it's all about the rank, but its useless to be boosted to a rank you can't play in. When I started playing Comp after my first 10 games I ranked Nova 2 then I started playing with my friends who were all AK's. And I levelled up quickly to Nova 4 but playing as Nova 4 I can really feel my skills being tested playing against the higher ranks.

I would derank to Nova 3 and then I would find most of my games turned out more evenly matched.

I think Prime helps to a degree even though smurfs will find away around.
But CSGO needs to give you a game so it has to match you with non Prime members if it can find enough Prime members.
Its far from perfect but CS:GO comp is pretty addictive. That 5v5 comp when the team works together is just online gaming at its best.

I had a game the other night no-one on the team took the game too serious and it was one of the best games we had, and we even won despite clowning around.

Woohoo up to rank 9 now :D

Played 2 comps on Wednesday, won them both :D

Then played about 5/6 DMs and won 3 of them, second in the rest. It gets better!

Last night I played 2 comps, won 1, lost 1. Averaged 3rd in my DM/Casual games but they were all higher rank than me so I felt fine with that.

Think I'll jam a bit this afternoon and tonight.

I'm definitely on tonight, invite me when you comp.

Not hard at all. Jump in, play a few games of casual or deathmatch and you're in. Learning the finer points of the maps and the quirks of each weapon will take a bit, but that's normal for an FPS game.

Join us tonight, start the download now :D

Also, I'll buy you a gun if you bring me some braaimeat :D

I wonder if I should start playing this........ how hard is it as a beginner, in terms of learning curve? (not a beginner to FPS)

Was wondering if you were lost :p

It's easy to play well enough to have fun right away...simple gameplay, objectives are obvious. Overall the game is intuitive...hence the many, many lighties who play all the time.

It's the next level of stuff that takes awhile to figure out...how to use the equipment (the different types of grenades) to best advantage, map knowledge (common angles, timings) and strategy (when to hold, when to push).

It's simple fun but can be amazing fun when things work out like you and your team planned.

FIFY :p

Not too hard as a beginner, you will get frags. But just like any FPS team based game it's about knowing the maps, the calls and the strategies. which you pick up pretty quickly when you play in a group of friends. Sign-up. I'll play on my other account with you and we'll get you into playing mode in no time flat. The aiming and the likes does take practice but it's always fun. One day you are god like, next day you play like a scrub. It keeps the game fun and challenging.

I recommend that any person with an PC and Steam, purchase and download the game. There is an ‘competitive’ learning curve, but otherwise it is simple aim and click in casual mode. Through experience you will pick up the good, the bad and the ugly.

Why do I recommend the game?

Skill, there no other game which will excel your anticipation skills like CS. I do encourage players to watch pro games to be 'advised' on strats.

Remember this is not CoD, Team Fortress, Quake or Unreal Tournament.
