They've been going off with the updates lately, three updates in less than a week.

One of the things they've added is ingame float, pattern etc when inspecting a skin:

Good chance that it is in preparation as some curious people have already dug out code which may or may not be part in the next Operation.

As per the release notes,

http://blog.counter-strike.net/index.php/category/updates/

much, also, points to resolving issues with Canals.

I only see now that they have added a wear rating, see the market destabilise. Many people buy ‘less-desirable’ skins, relevant to some skins, because visually they are more-or-less the same than Factory New. This wear rating will play on the demand.

Great, so now we won't be able to queue locally for a week again...

Lol, everything is still working. The kindergarten is back in action, the inconsistent pings, everything back to usual. I’m sure that the issue was local though, not even the hosts made a public announcement that something was up, something they usually do when they are encountering issues with Steam. Things started working prior to yesterday’s update.

Operation?

http://counterstrike.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Operations

Operations are a form of purchasable DLC introduced in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive consisting of exclusive official and community created content including community maps, an exclusive operation coin, and stat tracking throughout the duration of the operation. Later operations also introduced exclusive weapon collections and cases. Each operation is scheduled to last between 2-3 months with a one month break in between. However, it is not uncommon for an operation to extend beyond its schedule. Since operations contain community created content, a portion of the proceeds go directly to authors of content included within the operation.

Only been playing for a couple months, so no. I'll do the next one for sure.
