CSGO Sticky thread

That much I do know at least So long as the weapon is persistent it'll be great. I hated having to re-buy the same weapons each time in the classic bomb mode. Is there any way to bind a weapon purchase to a key?
There is a way, but the best would be to remember the numbers. Most of the time F3 to auto buy the armour and the AK/M4. F4 re-buys the same as the last round.

For binds, I'm probably not the best guy to ask, I tend to not use custom binds, only the default ones.

Pffft Urban, so little faith in your protege! I'm extremely proud to say that I killed Soul Assassin ... once. In between he killed me like 15 times :D

My kill to death ratio is definitely improving, from 30 deaths and 1 kill, now to around 10 kills and 25 deaths ... I just need to work on my accuracy a LOT.

Here's the million dollar question: in Deathmatch is one supposed to pick a gun one prefers, or just accept whatever one is given randomly? I find it very hard to keep switching guns every time I'm killed, and some of those guns are just not very good.

You killed me twice actually.

At least you're consistent, did you notice you had the same K/D both matches we played?

10/30

F1-F2 usually rebuys your usual/last used. F3 in buy menu buys the most popular (as Gen said, AK/M4 and armour and defuse kit)
but yeah, rather learn the numbers and eventually you'll have what you want in a fluid motion of "B 4 2" buys M4/AK, B46 buys AWP, B15 deagle. B22 semi-auto shotgun, etc)

Whoohoo, twice. Highlight of my day! :D

We'll see how it goes. I just have to get into that jedi zone where my muscle memory attacks without me needing to think about it.

Actually just finished up for the night, since I have no idea what to expect at work tomorrow, I'd rather be prepared for a rough one.

You should spend some time and get your settings the way you like, make your own custom crosshair and set the most common launch options.

Right now I've got -novid and an autoexec.cfg binding the network stats to my Tab button, so I'm not doing too badly for my first week of the game! I do want to do the custom crosshair thing: any recommendations? I saw one guy say pink is a good colour for it?

I usually go for green or red custom dynamic hollow dot on my crosshairs. There's also a few custom maps to help edit your crosshair in-game with a practice area to try them out.

I was just playing now. Ping got the better of me.

Okay...invited on Steam. Welcome to the forum (I don't know If we've spoken before).

Anyone playing tonight (I see you cheating on us in Starbound, Wolf :().
Thanks - will accept. And no - not chatted yet

You can switch random weapons on and off with F3. I would suggest picking one weapon and practicing with it.
Oh cool - it was annoying but good practice.

Yup, I was catching up with people. I played CSGO on Friday, casual, was unable to get a comp match that night... Maybe get back into the game next weekend.

IEM Sydney was this weekend...fun tournament. The replays are on YouTube if you want to watch.

Overpass in the final was mental...force buy after force buy from both teams. Quite a battle in the end.

On those comp matches, is it normal for the setup to take so long? I waited three minutes and then just cancelled and went back into casual gaming last night ... not least because I also wasn't ready to commit to the 90 minutes they claim at the top that some games can take.

Yea sometimes it takes a while to find a game. They rarely take 90 minutes. Comps are best out of 30 rounds, so first to 16 basically. Only if it ends up a tie and you do all 30 rounds (15/15), and all rounds go to the full 3:00 minute time limit, does it take that long. (30x3=90). Typically rounds end quicker than that, and they don't often go to a tie. You could budget and hour and probably take less than that in my experience, depending on the skill balance of the teams.
