CSGO Sticky thread

Lol everyone is invited, you just always refuse to accept my invites to play with so I assumed you wouldn't want to walk amongst us losers :(

sorry urban, didnt see this till now :( MIGHT jump on tonight if people are going to be playing again tonight (9 May for those that read this late :p)

I will be on from 5- 6, then I'm out.

No problemo @stillie, just add yourself to that discord so we have it for future use.

Guess not everyone is invited.

You're totally invited Soul Assassin. And where were you last night anyway? You totally missed my awesome streak: 16 kills and 24 deaths only. I was super chuffed ... before I went and then racked up 33 deaths in the next two games.

Say this much about me, I'm not afraid of the afterlife :D

Always wondered, what are the difference/benefits of discord?

Discord only uses the Opus codec, Teamspeak has Speex, CELT and Opus, and though Opus is low-latency it can easily be disrupted with an inconsistent connection. Here choice matters, however OPUS is regarded as the king, and I agree, but I know many users being happier using Speex where high-bandwidth usage in gaming apply. Opus is higher quality than Speex.

Teamspeak may be hosted, it can be regulated and comes packed with the basics which is manageable, Streamers delight. It has an awesome plugin-API which allows some niche integrations.

Discord, it is an on-going development, it may be integrated with most streaming services and games. It also comes with an API which is neat, and like I have previously said it is pretty cool. However, Discord is limited to some extent, all the glamour is in its UI. Now there are some issues, this thing will be monetised, more than it is now, down the line. It is also said that they want to be a direct Skype competitor, and I already use it to conduct business, and they are close to introduce screen sharing capabilities, etc. Expect private video calls soon… We also use Discord to host our upcoming gaming community.

Then you have Mumble which is great, but it is very primitive, by primitive I mean that you need to do some custom work to suit your desired experience. I have seen some people do great things with Mumble.

All in all, once Discord hits it’s monetisation height, people will go right back to TeamSpeak, Discord Nitro is already priced at $4.99 p/m, but apparently, community partners will have a gratis all-inclusive package like TeamSpeak has with their unlimited open plan. I don’t believe Discord, people are moving to them in their hordes, good basis to make moola. Hook, line and sinker, lovely UI that.

To manage a community, tweak it optimally, there is no better solution than TeamSpeak. Mumble as well, but you need a dev.

What can I say, everybody loves seeing me online and spectating the hell out of how epicly I die :D

The few times I wanted to invite you to a lobby you were just showing as Offline, so I gave up trying. I managed to get a few kills on Franellator instead, so that consoled me a bit.
