CSGO Sticky thread

Using discord, can you chat thought the mobile app itself?

I don't have a headset with a mic, but can use the app on my cell then instead

The Discord app can be used for voice chat which is really convenient for people without mics, Push-to-Talk or Voice Activity Detection.

Got back my MG2 last night... now to get to MGE again... bleh

O and my 1k win obtained last night too. Felt like such an achievement till I realised 1 comp = at least 1 hour. And these are just the ones I've won :o :D

Gratz...I'm only 961 wins behind :erm:

Use an elastic and put the phone against your ear :p :D

I see some nice specials on Takealot for headsets. I have a standing mic, so I would like some new headphones. My Scullcandy has had better days :o

Philips SHP9500 and V-MODA BoomPro.

I'll just use an earphone for the cell and plonk the headset over it

This is actually pretty damn amazing.

Where did you get yours? I might be in the market for one.

I don't have one but that is the ultimate setup.

You can get it on Amazon for ~R650 shipping, customs etc included.

As some know I play with in-ears so my omni-directional mic is not always audible. I am temporarily using this,

https://www.amazon.com/Andrea-Array-2S-Superbeam-Microphone/dp/B00DOGRUYG

which I received yonks ago with an ASUS gaming board, the good old Core-Duo days. It is working though, you okes can hear my babies in all their glory.

Currently I am still shopping around, headset and mouse, leaning to go all-out Kingston.

I still fully believe no gaming headset can match proper headphones with an external mic, the exception being the expensive Kingston HyperX Cloud II.

I have Razer Kraken Pros which are super-comfortable though the sound fidelity could be better.

Can't comment on the retractable mike since I don't have to put up with what I sound like :p

Some Sennheiser's on special with Takealot for R 569.

But it takes 2 cords not one. I'm sure you get ones with the one cord.

The only reason I’m going headset is that I will be attending LANs, otherwise I’m being totally cancelled out.

I know a local guy which has gone Sennheiser GSX 1000 + GAME ZERO. He is still bragging about it. Rich kids...

I'm getting those, to think this time last year they were priced around R1400 retail.

If you buy them on Amazon they are ~R1700 but do some Googling and see what you can find out about a good pair of headphones with an external mic like the BoomPro or ModMic vs gaming headset.

I have some options in mind, but going headphones I will then be getting something decent to use. I do more than gaming. Yah, all Amazon has to do is accept my alt coins.

Talking Sennheiser, their baby gaming set the Sennheiser PC 373D as an alternative to the GAME ZERO is a rather appealing option and easy on the bank balance. The headset that I really want is the GAME ONE with the open-back.

If gaming isn't their primary use I see no reason to get the Kingston headset instead of headphones with a detachable mic.

The GAME ZERO and GAME ONE are just Sennheiser HD5xx headphones with a mic, I think the GAME ZERO is the HD598 and the GAME ONE is the HD558

Just have a look see at the Philips SHP9500 with detachable mic.

Then I enter the conundrum, closed or open? Open is better, gaming-wise. Listening to audio in general I like isolation more… It is not easy exploring my options.
