Something new and evil has been created by Gabe Newell (well...it is a couple of years old).

A lot of you CSGO players will already know about the evil that presides on csgolounge. Kids losing their skins on matches that should have been a walkover.

I have lost quite a bit of money there, but it was my own fault. You just can not bet on a system that is so inconsistent. A system where the better team gets DDoS'ed to let the underdog win.

This might not seem like a huge thing, but I urge the parents of gaming kids to monitor their gaming behavior. CSGO is a great game, but when you include virtual items that can be traded or even used to make bets, things start to become a little more complicated.

Have an adult loose his $60 skin to a sure win match and me might just shrug it off. Have a teenager loose his $60 skin and you have a VERY unhappy camper on your hands.

Urgh....I'm not really sure where I am going with this article and I have rewritten it a couple of times.

Please be more aware of what your children do online. They might be turning in to serious gamblers without them even knowing. When serious gamblers loose, they get very angry. As I have, more than once.

Just want to get one point across. Violent games don't create serial killers! Let your 3 year old play GTA 5, I couldn't care less. BUT...gambling creates gamblers. Gamblers tend to gamble on everything. If you let your teenager gamble his money away on virtual items, you might end up with a problem child who you need to drag away from the black jack table over weekends.

Not sure whether to report as spam...

Spam? hmmmmm....

I'm not great with words, TBH. I just want unsuspecting parents to know that their kids favorite game has a betting portal freely available to them.

CSGO players would know.

Jk :p

If I lost $60 as a kid or even now, I'd never gamble again :D

I have spent a couple of $'s on keys to open cases. In the end it just seems to be a money sink. You get nothing from the skins. They look cool, but still shoot exactly the same as another gun. The amount people spend on these things are insane. I just play with the ones I have now. I can't be arsed. Will still open a case from time to time just in case I get a nice knife. But that's it.

If you let your teenager play a game that is rated 18+ then you should know what to expect.

I for one don't really care about the items I have lost items in dota 2 so:P

Most games rated 18+ is because of violence. Very little people care about this.

CSGO offers gambling. This is not something most parents know of.

CSGO, nor valve offer gambling... They offer virtual ingame items... The only worth behind the items is what the player base is willing to attach to them... This is basic economics...

CSGOLounge is a private website not endorced by valve as it says on the website itself. The only thing it does is use the valve API to get item infomation. The rest is just a place where players can find each other to trade items and or bet those items on games.

If your child is playing 18+ games and you are fine with that so be it... But just about any game with a real world economy or anything of any worth that can be given to another player will lead to websites like csgolounge or dota2lounge or tfoutpost etc etc etc. So if this is the case educate your children about this as there is no body to blame but yourself if you end up having a moody teenagers around because you haven't taught them what gambling is.

I think betting on esports is dangerous, period. Mainly because most of the people doing it are adolescent. I remember a while ago that NiP threatened to quit competitive CS:GO completely after they received death threats from betters after they "threw" a match - and that because betters lost virtual items?! There's too much hacking and DDOSing going on in pro tournaments to make gambling viable anyway.

I don't have a problem with the gambling. You'll find people threatening teams all over the world in various sports.

A gambling environment has been opened for anyone who is willing to try it. This is my problem. People who do not understand what gambling means will fall in to this trap and become addicted. Leading to other gambling.

I don't want anyone to try and put an end to this. That is just stupid. Parents just need to educate their kids on what gambling actually is. These will be the addicts, sitting at the slot machines on a Monday morning, gambling away their salaries.

What he's trying to do. Lots of parents won't actually know what's going on so they can't really be blamed. Doesn't mean most kids will get addicted but could result in a lot of other unwanted behaviour. The only worth behind the items is what the player base is willing to attach to them? The same as in the real world?

I think a lot of parents have read this thread now, whos kids might play this game. I'm not blaming anyone, just educating the ones that do not know about it.

Parents shouldn't micro manage what their kids do on their computers, but at least make sure your kid isn't turning in to an adult.

This made me laugh so hard

I'm just venting on here. Do whatever you want to do. This is the new age, isn't it. You do not need to know whats going on, on your kids computer. Leave him be. Let him lock himself in his room whenever he is home and spend all his time on his pc.

I couldn't care less if no one takes my advice. I've been caught with this gambling bug but squashed it in time, luckily.

I love looking at the youth of today and seeing failed parenting everywhere. It makes me feel amazing inside that I actually had people caring for me when I was younger.
