Can anyone please explain to me CSOS costing

Does that include any extra's (like sewerage) from the council (if listed on its own line) ?

I know / do understand its the Levy - R500 * 0.2% = Csos Cost

The CSOS levy to be collected from the unit owners is calculated as “the lesser of R 40.00 or 2% of the amount by which the monthly levy charged by the Scheme exceeds R 500.00”

Supposed to only include the levy, nothing else.

Lets say my levy is a R1000 and I live in a flat, sectional title, and sewerage is R600 via COJ

Is it :
A) R1000 + R600 - R500 * 0.2% ?
B) R1000 - R500 * 0.2% ?

Should be B.

Sewage is not part of the levy, it is a municipal cost that the HOA recovers from the sectional title owners.

Exactly ! Our agent says its allowed ! And Csos knows of it

There is a levy calculator spreadsheet at the bottom of this web page:

Ask the agent where he/she sees sewage in the calculator.

Also ask for a proof of payment to the HOA/owner. The risks is that he/she (agent) collects the levy based on a higher basis amount (incl sewage), only pay the actual levy over (based on HOA levy amounts) and pockets the rest. The HOA will obviously pay the levy over to the CSOC once collected from all the sectional title units.
