I usually get anywhere between 550-750ms of latency when playing WOW. Well usually meaning since about April, before then I got a consistent 400-500ms.
Anyway, I noticed on Sat evening... or was it early Sun morning
... that I had a green bar in WOW (Which is always Red). Mousing over it it displayed 245ms.
A quick Alt+Tab to run tracert to the wow server and noticed that I was been routed directly to London... not via the NY line.
This was only temporary as within minutes I was back in the Red and tracert revealed the NY routing was back.
I was wondering if anyone out has a service provider that somehow manages to get routed directly to London and not via NY ? I understand that its all controlled by Telkom... just wondering if by chance they get lazy and group their routing based on ISP's.
If anything it would just be interesting to find out if anyone isn't routed through NY. I know it probably isn't the case... indulge me tho please
You can run 'tracert eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com' from the command line.
Post your findings.
Cheers
