Ok, so it doesn't get much more camp than this . .

Anyway, going back and forth today I saw a bit of masterchef australia - the great cupcake bake off - I got a little drool.

Then while making dinner I was watching 2 Broke Skanks - and there they were again - cupcakes !!

I had to have some.
However, my baking skills leave much to be desired, but in any event I went to the masterchef website & got the recipe.

Baking success - could not believe it - and they are really good & uber simple to make.
So here is the recipe for baking challenged of us:

http://www.masterchef.com.au/recipes/cupcakes.htm

The recipe only makes 12 cupcakes.
They were devoured by myself, my housekeeper & 3 friends within an hour of the icing going on.
They were really really great - everyone loved them, very moist but light.

Pity :(

I like seeing how things turn out by "normal" people :)

I'm a sucker for blueberry muffins

The only cup cakes a man should make are the ones where you fart into your hand.

Worthless thread -without pics. It never happened.
Anyway I don't get this whole cupcake thing.
Rather bake a cake and ice it like a huge cupcake and there's no fiddly paper cups and as many seconds as you want.Less work too by far.

Cupcakes are dainty, pretty things (eye candy!) and that is the big attraction. That being said, the magic is in the cupcake liner and the decoration .... http://www.weekendnotes.co.uk/10-best-cupcake-venues-london/

While I admitted mine were camp, yours clearly "out-butch" mine by a bicep.
I have no doubt that yours are indeed lighter & fluffier - even more moist at times !
I also suspect yours may also win in the event of a food fight breaking out.

However, what do your mates think of your cupcakes when offered one ? :D

I watch quite a few cooking/baking programs - I love cooking. And there seems to be world wide hype about cupcakes all of the sudden.

I suppose they are easier to bake as well cause due to their size it is easier to cook right through. Also you get quite nice bake in a box cupcakes at your nearest grocery store.

Liner and decoration? Pft so superficial. MrsC is a killer baker and I tell you the magic is in the texture. Slight crackly crust on the surface, moist light fluffiness in the centre. Precious few cupcake bakers out there can nail it.

If they are not in a pretty liner and beautifully decorated, why bother? Do you serve them up as is?
