So its that about that time when everyone starts running out of cap and every. may be a noob question, but theoretically, is it possible to use a friends adsl settings (obviously with their consent) to surf the net? Im assuming that both you and the friend cant simultaneously use the account settings...

I only ask this because when setting up my router I see you put in login details on the router, similar to how you login to an email account or similar
 
'Course it is, but your assumption that you can't connect concurrently is likely correct. That does however vary from one ISP to another, as well as from capped to uncapped.

Also, some ISPs lock ADSL accounts to one line by default. There's no technical reason you can't do what you ask though.
