My sister in law is an air hostess. She has a jar where she puts all left over money from all the countries shes visited in, and yesterday, I was gifted this jar.

I sifted through it all and there is money from 16 different countries.

Now, by my estimates, there is close to R3000 here.

Where would I be able to exchange all this, and would it even be possible for me to do so?

I would have sold it off on gumtree. I am sure there are a lot of people still interested in collecting coins from other countries.

Are they coins or bank notes? The total equivalent of R3k is not much to bother going to Forex. The fees and charges alone would not be worth it.
Joker's idea sounds good.

I've exchanged less than that at the bank. They do take a % fee for both the exchange rate and something else - I can't remember the number off the top of my head but +- 5%. Easiest is just to call your bank and ask if they are willing. Bring a Kit-Kat to the poor teller who is going to be counting all your coins...

For 16 different currencies, some of the amounts will be less than the typical exchange fee at a bank because it's likely each currency will be treated as a separate transaction
