the Nagle 'fix' didnt work as well as dev's expected

the 'hack' still lowers latt of a 2.3.2 client, least for me it does, from 500-700ms to 200-300 is a rather large improvement imo

New patch fixed latency?? OMFG I've been getting 600ms on unshaped with massive lag spikes every time I speak to a MOB or vendor since the patch.
 
Ok, I've just applied that registry hack, and my latency is down about 200ms to between 300ms and 500ms! Seems to vary constantly, but I get average 350-450. This is on both SAIX and Verizon. Still not getting consistent 350ms but what an improvement!

I finally spoke to a Telkom technician... they can't test for high latency at all (?!) and can't move me to another exchange in Cape Town because I'd have to get a different phone number, but they can "change the port" in my current exchange and "move me onto another card". Will post any interesting results.

i would check it out if i could - but it seems like half the internet is down for me. Does anyone else have this problem - internet is always slow and intermittent in the mornings only - afternoon and night is totally fine. I cannot play wow before work anymore because it gets so lagged and i keep disconnecting.

*EDIT* ok i got on - does this work on Vista?

when i play wow during the day. its only on the weekends

EDIT: With SAIX over the w/e, latt wouldnt go higher than 400 :)
 
i got it thanks - at work now.
I am in the Rivonia area and my dsl has been perfect for almost a year - up until a month or so ago. Now its extremely slow in the mornings, huge packet loss - but it comes right in the evenings.
on the weekends however i do not have the same problems, its only during the week and only from around 8am-12pm! WTF???????

How do you determine packet loss? I have NetLimiter which shows me application bandwidth usage...

I have lag whenever I speak to a vendor. Its weird.
 
Virgo, simply just ping any international website

for example; ping www.wow-europe.com

it will show how many packets are lost with 4 transmissions, or by adding a '-t' to the end, it will send packets continously until you stop it.
 
Ah ok. Don't think I've seen packets being lost in a ping before. Think it happens often though and causes my game to lag horribly.
 
tried the hack on my XP install - and it works like a dream!
Latency between 200-350, most of the time hanging around 300ish - even in a huge AV battle with like 60 chars :o

I'm still having horrific lag spikes, especially when speaking to vendors. Telkom have changed my DSLAM port in the exchange or something, so I'll see if that helps.

I'm on Stormrage US, and since 2.3.2 I'm getting about 600ms on shaped, and 350-500 on unshaped. A dream come true.
