The BlackBerry Curve 8520 really does suck big time. It is now the 3rd time that I have had to send my hand set in. I need a diff model BB already. Man I am getting tired of this.... I have not even got a discount for the time I have been without my phone, about 6 or 7 weeks for all the times I have sent it in and been without it.

The only way I could get through my two year contact with that piece of crap stock os 5 was to install the JSL hybrid. After that I had smooth operation and somewhat longer battery life. The forum that used to follow JSL (dripher.com) has been shut down. But JSL continues development here: http://www.jslenterprises.net/blackberry/8520-gemini.html

Maybe give it a shot :)

thanks hey that is when I get my BB back.... man I am so unhappy right now. My original hand set could not be fixed. The one I have now has been sent in 3 times

It's so typical of RIM to resort to cheaper manufactures for their handsets. I really don't know how people tolerate such shoddy hardware when it comes to BB. If it were another brand people would hop on over to another product so quickly.

The has apparently been discontinued now thank goodness. Its the worst phone I have ever had. Even my Nokia Navigator was better. I di like the BB though. I just want a better one. after all the money I have spent on MTN I feel I deserve one

Don't think its wise to spend any more money on an expensive BB. The quality is crap even on the Bold. If you're using it for BIS then stay with the curve cos you're gonna waste your money on anything more expensive and that will break too.

Yeah, it's understandable that the phone did cost a substantial amount of money and it is costly to buy another smartphone but the same problems that you are having is entrenched in the newer phones like the 9320. Just check out BB ZA's Twitter page with all the complaints. I blame RIM for continuing to flood the market with overpriced cheap phones and the network operators along with that.

I never bought it its con contract, talking about the amount of money I have spent in flipping air time while the phone has been away lol

I honestly think BB is sinking. Got myself a Nokia Lumia 800 and dont miss my BB one bit :)

I like BBM. I don't like Windows 8 so I am not sure about the Lumia I dont always have airtime or money to buy data that what I like about the BB

I do agree that BIS is an awesome idea :) don't really miss it since i switched over to Cell C. They're quite reasonably priced with their data. But i dont think BIS or BB is gonna last very long anyway. If you're not happy with the Curve you can try the Bold, I had it for a year then it broke for no reason (just after my warranty expired). The only good thing about BB is BIS so abuse away while it still lasts! :)

we will see what happens. I still got 13 months left with the phone when I do get it back and I don't think I will change to a diff network. I am happy with MTN
