I don’t understand!

Why do some okes customize their car?

Now, before you crucify me, I’m not referring to high end sports cars, I’m referring to these pre 2004 rust buckets with 200 000 k on the clock, wheels as big as a truck’s, an airplane wing mounted on the roof or boot, a “padskraaper” for front-end bumper, a bluish or greenish alien like glow, gleaming from under the chassis.

Is it to draw attention? Why do they not just buy a decent car? It’s not like these accessories serve any real functional purpose, like for instance improving safety or so, and isn’t factory fitted wheels and body panels vigorously tested and fitted according to the vehicles performance, weight and other properties.

Do you own such a heap?

because it can like to be kiff.

You forgot the exhaust pipes which are so fat, you can actually see the pistons.

didn't you know that its for the chicks? how else would someone with penis survive?

Its the poor mans way of having a sportscar.

Oh except rims, rims are vital, and if you are going to "do up" your car then they should be your first purchase.

Why do people put 22" chrome mags on their toyota bakkies ?

I call devolution

People customize their cars irrespective of year, make, model or size to show their individuality out on the roads. Instead of being like every Tom, Dick or Harry out there driving (eg. a White VW Polo) that looks identical to the other 1000s out there, why not make it look more individual? Thats my reasoning as to why people customize their cars.

Now referring to your other statement on pre 2004 "rust buckets". I do tend to agree that some people over do it with their bizzare customizing that looks totally messed up but not all pre 2004 cars are like that. I have personally seen some really good pre 2004 customized cars that would put some 2011 models to shame!!!

I saw an ooold mercedes truck the other day, 1970ish model with momo, enkei, nos etc stickers down its door.

90% of them do it because they saw 50cent do it on MTV. The other 10 do it because pre-2000 'rust-buckets' with 1.8 L engines can do this -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhSbICfXwHs

Nothing funnier than a crappy 20 year old Toyota Corolla 1.4 with a 'big-sound' exhaust pipe.

I loves them..

Its nice to see how ppl piss away their money on stupied nonsensical things.

These old fscked up 1300 Conquests billowing smoke out the exhausts that stink like a coal factory - engine stuffed, but blinging mags, a sound system to go and such ****ty body work from a scrap yard, covered with pro racing stickers. wtf??????

Someone has got to tell those bafoons that it isn't cool. It's just pathetic. No one "respects" cars like that. Rather spend that R5k+ on fixing your engine instead of buying massive stupid rims for an old Datsan.
