Ordered an item in May, falls under the Toys category. Was GBP 38, so about R646 at the exchange rate then. Arrived today, duties and Vat, R315. You win some, you lose some.

And yet we can put Netflix on the credit card and there's nothing but a little forex spread. Tariffs on physical goods are like 300 years past their expiry date.
 
I think with SAPO trying to expedite the clearing of the backlog, customs are just doing a thumb suck on items and not really applying correct import codes.
