CV - photos ?

That's what I thought. It must just have been summer. Although I once went to stay with some Afrikaans people in Bethlehem in wintertime and all the youngsters went around barefoot by choice, not due to lack of money. Most of the girls at the high school too.
 
Speak of the devil, one of my friends just sent me her CV to comment on it and it has her photo top right :cry:. It's a client facing job, so maybe it's important in that sector (still irritates the CRAP out of me). But I can let that slide, the worst part is the personal description/motivation part. All her sentences start with "I".

I am motivated...
I can perform under pressure...
I am a team player...
I can deliver....

:mad: :wtf:
 
Can she offer any "extra services" too, or is that assumed... Those sentences are all cliches and if I saw that, I would bin it.

Her experience looks good, but to get to that part you have to get through the above "motivation" part and the highschool and tertiary education part. Every single module of her tertiary education is listed. It's almost a full page of modules. So you've got to get through 2 whole pages before we get to experience.


But she is a bit of a hottie so the photo might help if the employer is a man :D

2) I'd have thought a Word document be the ideal format - is a PDF better? Do they not need to copy/paste?

You can copy paste from pdf.

My advice, strip away the frippery. If you aren't sure it adds weight to the CV, you can be almost sure it actually creates a negative impression.

I received a CV from a gentleman who listed his wifes name and their wedding anniversary under his personal information. And he is a highly qualified surgeon (so not an intellectually unfortunate specimen by any means)... I can't even begin to imagine how he though that was relevant.
