Do these accounts e.g. 3 Gig CAP on 192/64 Kbs Circuit really run at those speeds? If so, how is this implemented?

I'm interested to know if for example someone is using a 192k account on a DSL 384 line, if their speeds are throttled?

Thanks!

Edit: Whats the deciding factor between the "General ADSL" and "ADSL ISP" forums? :D

You pay for the circuit you have - so if you have a 384 line, you pay the 384 price. I had to send a copy of my Telkom invoice, because of some Telkom-up ( :D ) on Telkoms system.

Yeah, but are your upload/download speeds throttled if you buy a 192k account and have for example a 384k line? Just curious as I don't see any of the other ISP's doing this.

You misunderstand me. You cannot get the 192 option if you have a 384 line. Your line speed determines the package you MUST get.

If you have a 384 line, you MUST(!) get the 384 package.

and what happens when u change line options? they would not have a clue that you have done that :)

probably not!

I would prefer an option whereby they enforce a limit, rather than use line speed, as I only use my Cybersmart account for surfing and small web downloads- use my IS account for downloading.

when i signed the contract i remember one of the conditions were that if you upgrade your line they will automatically upgrade your subscription...not sure how/if they enforce this...

Thanks. But as has been mentioned in a few other posts, how will the ISP know what speed your line is?

What account do you have and which DSL package do you have? Is it definately restricted based on your account type?
