Cybersmart and concurrent connections

Just a quick question, does cybersmart allow concurrent connections with their ADSL accounts? If so, how many? :cool:

no idea.. I think one tho i've never had problems connecting when i drop link abruptly(pull phone/power cable). I know tho you not allowed to use on another port/location
 
DSL in general does support multiple connections, however I am not sure if it can be done on the same line. If I may ask, why would you want 2 connections on the same line?

You can create more than one PPPoE connection on one line (trust me, I do it evey day). All I want to know is whether Cybersmart allows at least two concurrent connections.

It's actually for a friend, I already do the same thing just with other ISPs

What I do is setup the router with my normal SAIX acc so that all the computers can use the connection. Then I enable PPPoE relay on the router and establish a PPPoE connection to that same SAIX ISP and another with an IS ISP. Then I use RouteSentry by ant1b0dy to route all international traffic through the SAIX acc and all local traffic through the IS ISP.

That way, all the other computers and normal internet access, while on my computer I can play BF2 and use the IS News Server through the IS acc and without having to disconnect and stop my downloads if I want to go to an international site.
 
I think MrE is with cybersmart, you can ask him, what does their website say?

Pretty much nothing, and I e-mailed them and they dont even know what concurrent connections are, so doesn't really help :cool:
 
What about webafrica? They've got concurrent conections, on their pre-paid adsl at least.

Just to be sure, there is 1 connection to the SAIX cybersmart connection and 1 connection to the IS ISP. Both these ISP's will only see 1 connection to them. The line is of no consequence when they determine concurrent connections (ie. they don't check the amount of connections on your 1 line) they check how many concurrent log-in's you have with your 1 Username & password. Therefore you can have 10 ISP accounts and have them all connected at the same time and they'll all report 1 concurrent connection but if you were to connect with 1 account from 2 totally different lines you'd have 2 concurrent connections.

Hope this was what you where asking, I kinda skimed through it :D

EDIT: On second read it does actually seem you establish 2 concurrent connections with the SAIX isp. I know that when my brother inquired about Cybersmart they told him they only allow 1 concurrent connection... But please correct me if I am wrong.

what I want to do is log in with the Cybersmart acc twice from the same line, so it would report as two connections to the ISP.

I use a different ISP which allows concurrent connections and using the setup I described above it shows that there has been two concurrent connections when I check the logs.

Ughh... yes they actually do know what a concurrent connection is, and yes, apparently they allow it. I do it every day and they've never hassled me about it.

Cybersmart CLIENT, not buddy or whatever.

well I sent them an e-mail asking whether they allow concurrent connections, the person that replied basically said he doesn't know what I'm talking about.

Anyways, thanks for the info ;)
 
I mailed them a week or so ago. I basically asked if I could enable bridge mode on the router, and have multiple computers doing their own dialup thing from one location. This was their answer:
Hi

You can connect as many computers as you like at the same physical location

Bridge mode is not a good idea as it removes the firewall security on the router

If it is an ethernet router it should have four ports and you can connect four computers
directly

Their terms and conditions also state that they will notify you if they detect logins on your account from multiple locations...
