Cybersmart being Rediculous

Ok so for the past few days now my 1 mbs speed is at a standstill. It takes ages for webpages to load and download speeds are at 0 kBps, took a few minutes even to load the Mybroadband page, but Speedtests shows my line speed is fine. Router stats also show nothing on my line.

Phoned Cybersmart today the rep told me that they are experiencing bandwidth issues and will need to upgrade their bandwidth capacity and this issue will HOPEFULLY be resolved END of Jan 2014.

Seriously I paid for the month and I cannot even get 384kbs on my line! This is because they decided to upgrade people from 1mbs to 2mbs. Didn’t they think or plan around their capacity instead of just upgrading people. :mad:

I intend to cancel my account and move to another ISP I am thinking maybe Openweb or Afrihost. I see on the forums there is a lot of mixed response about Afrihost but it cannot be as worst as Cybersmart can it?
 
Seems cybersmart are really losing the plot.

The unfortunate thing is, from the threads on MyBB it looks like the only option is something along the lines of a 100GB capped account, all these "uncapped" accounts seem to be throttled to heck and back...

Afrihost is very good. Don't rely on the complaints to guide you in your choice, Afrihost is very good. As you will see with many AH complaint threads, the issue is with Telkom (dslam/copper problem). Openweb is also very good, they are more expensive but you get what you pay for.

Try Telkom Internet, you might just be surprised. I should actually just keep quiet as more people can't be good for my bandwidth :D
 
Afrihost is good my ass.. I have had issues with them for over a YEAR!

Look the the bolded numerals, it is the 2nd hop. I just did a tracert to thinkbroadband and my 2nd hop came up as 7/8/6 .

As I said, just another oak blaming Afrihost for Telkom's problems.

Sorry didn't see bold numbers using tapatalk. But I see what you mean.
 
Well Cybersmart upgraded the lines to 2mb, but you have to phone them to resync otherwise you will not get the 2mb speed. Then I was told that my cost will go up by R200 pm. What the hell. Does that seem fair?

Just because Telkom is upgrading the lines to 2Mb doesn't mean Cybersmart is upgrading your uncapped from 1Mb to 2Mb for free.

His local traceroute (to Afrihost.co.za) doesn't have those times, so I'd be careful of ascribing this to exchange congestion.

its a double wammy for the isp's.

telkom doubling the line speeds free of charge. but you actually pay for that faster line in the end. nothings free with telkom.

and they did not drop the ipc rates isp's. thus isp's must double the customers bandwith working on a nearly impossible profit margin. customers consumer two times the bandwidth and isp's still pay the old ipc charges...

while telkoms smiling all the way to the bank. if they run into financial difficulties, government will give them our tax bucks.
