Hey guys.

Just wanted to let anyone know who is looking to change ISPs.... Don't go with Cybersmart.

You can be guaranteed of the following if you do venture there:

  • Horrible slow speeds - I had a 10MB uncapped and the best I could manage was around 500KB/s at off-peak times
  • Unskilled first line staff, whom are quick to blame the circuit for speed issues
  • Constant disconnections
  • Erratic speeds and sometimes unusably slow at times
  • Incompetent Billing staff
  • Stress and high phone bills

I tried the MWeb 4MB uncapped, and I was able to get better (proportional) speeds on that link.
Furthermore, the latency on their normal shaped uncapped is half that of a Cybersmart 10Mb Business Uncapped account.

Please don't waste time and effort....
I've already cancelled with Cybersmart (and they do not really try to retain their customers) and moved to MWeb.

Here's hoping that my experience will be better. I've heard a lot of good things about them.... They are pricey, but hopefully worth it.

Brilliant!

Thanks for letting me know. I can't wait to start with them.
I've read from multiple sources on MyBB that no matter how much you flat line your link, they won't throttle you.

I'm looking forward to that!!

Don't be fooled by that.

All ISP's have some sort of throttle or restriction.... Just not as heavy has before.

hehe, sure no problem.

After I watched this, I remembered what I learnt about TCP windowing. This guy is right on the money. There is no way that ISP networks are as "congested" as they claim. Load of bull.

+1 cybersmart really have gone done badly, been with them for about 5 years, but got to a point where I couldnt even browse websites let alone download anything. Soon as I used a Mweb trial account all was well. On top of that they overcharging me and wont admit it or refund me. Managed to get my cancellation order through, just hoping they dont disconnect my line completely as ive heard they done to a few people before.

I feel you dude... Exactly the same thing happened to me.
They messed up billing, and then I came to a point where I told them that if it's not resolved on that day, I'm cancelling.
They probably get threats all the time, and didn't really seem too concerned.
Well, I called their bluff!
I'm quite happy with MWeb at the moment. While I'm paying the same I did for a 4MB uncapped at MWeb (which gets you a 10MB uncapped at Cybersmart), at least I have piece of mind, and my services work when I get home.
Every other day with Cybersmart, my connection dropped.
Go MWeb dude...
