Cybersmart: suspected using other ISP increasing OtherISPCount by 3

Make assumptions much? The cybersmart DNS does not resolve web pages when surfing. I get timeouts, so moved to OpenDNS and it is far superior, no more timeouts from unresolved DNS issues.

maybe you do don't understand - you can use any DNS with Cybersmart and their DNS server have been moved to VOX

ping it

Who.is.michael - where do you get the idea that Cybersmart's DNS servers have been moved to VOX????? That's incorrect.

+1 Another ISP he's trying to fling mud at, what did they do wrong now?

I know you can use any DNS, hence why I knew how to change it.

I'm saying that the DNS (the one auto assigned when logging on to my Cybersmart account) was useless. So I changed it to one offered by OpenDNS. I suppose I could have used Google DNS. But anyway, changing it away from the one offered automatically improved my surfing experience.

And ever since I did change the DNS I got that warning message "suspected using other ISP increasing OtherISPCount by 3". Which led to the making of this thread, and the realisation that CS are attempting to detect if you are using another ISP. For what purpose I have no idea.

Its some legacy thing built into their systems which they've never bothered removing. They used to be a bit sticky about using other ISP's for reasons which today sound quite silly, but they stopped bothering about that ages ago. Just ignore the "detection" warnings on that logs page, nobody cares about them...

Ok that's good. My suspicion only started last week as I've been a customer for 5 years now and it's the first time I've seen this in my logs. And I've been using other ISP data for 5 years too with no such entry appearing? Who knows, it's all big fat mystery, much like CS's T&Cs
