Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if any one can help me,

We have an uncapped account with Cybersmart, but if we go to Cybersmart's adsl usage page they report that we have a 300 GB cap.

So I mailed Cybersmart regarding this as this has happened before and they quickly fixed it for us, to my surprise they responded with the following ( I left out the person's name ):

Good day,

My apologies the incorrect email was sent to you.

The 300 gigs that you are seeing on your usage page is the limit as to how much you can use on your uncapped account.

You are currently on a 4meg and Telkom is still busy with the exchange upgrades.

We are billing you for a 2meg uncapped account.

Thank you very much.
Kind regards,

According to my knowledge they may only throttle your connection, not limit your usage?

Any ideas on how to get real uncapped?

Thanks

There is no such term of throttling and anyone that says different must provide proof via a RFC .... the only term that exists is shaping as per RFC2963. There is a term "Trap Throttling" as per RFC 2475 but its not what you are talking about.

Now that that's out of the way they cannot put any cap on a uncapped line hence "uncapped". You have a capped account with 300gb usage a month according to Cybersmart.

To get real uncapped without a "Fair Usage Policy" get a openweb gold or gaming account. They have good service and sell true uncapped products. Mweb, Afrihost, Webafrica, Telkom, Internet Solutions all have "Fair Use Policies".

Stay away from FNB connect they proxy all your access through their proxy servers so any password or details you enter will be cached on their proxy servers and everything that you access as well.

Thanks for the information GoofySmurf,

I questioned Cybersmart on the 300 GB limit, and they said that the fair usage policy takes effect at 300 GB and by no means will we ever be capped.
