Jesus Loves YOU.
I have Cybersmart (Lightspeed) Fibre in my building.
They have provided their own branded router, which has a rj11 jack for telephones to be plugged in..
I want to know if anyone out there has actually managed to load their Cybersmart account onto a mobile SIP or maybe a voip phone ?
Reason I ask, I am not using their router, I plugged in my own Mikrotik

hi Anthro,
I am planning to do the same as you when I eventually get connected. I expected to be given that information by cybersmart, obviously not! I just pinged sip.cybersmart.co.za which responded. Just a suggestion but you could try this with your normal login details. It probably won't work but you never know:)
I'm guessing cybersmart didn't give you a lot of information, I'd be very interested to know what they do give you. Good luck and if you do find anything out pls post, thanks

I will grab my router as received from them, and start tinkering tonight, I recall there was something similar to marlboro.ftth.sip or something specific to my complex (Marlborough Park) - which links up the access control at the security doors, this enables someone to also press your *+flat number and it rings on the phone supposedly linked on your router supplied by them.
I want this to go to my cell, and obviously the benefit of being mobile.

That certainly sounds as if it could produce results even if that wasn't perhaps their intention. I've never heard of a complex with its own sip server, clever stuff, especially the linked security . Pls let us know how it goes. I assume they did actually give you your phone number or did they port it over from original? If you are going over to your mikrotik are you planning to still use the supplied router?(maybe in bridge mode if you can get them to change it over for you) I was planning to drop their router for my Mikrotik and just use the supplied sfp. I do already have sip accounts so I'm not too worried about their landline offering, that may be different for you. Hope it flies:)

The router had marlbo.*.k*cybersmart.co.za" programmed into it, as well as 2 FXS numbers.
One being my flat number, the other a number which was also on the handover document.

I have been using a mikrotik for some time now as I do not trust any router I cannot config myself (plus the wifi access point had my name broadcasting - which I did not like)
To get connected, I simple plugged their SFP into a SFP > LAN converter then into my mikrotik WAN

Thanks a lot for the information Anthro, they've actually given more than I expected. Did you crack the sip connection? I'm quite jealous now, I need to be patient I know but I wish I could speed them up a bit:sneaky:
Go well

Unfortunately no luck as of yet, getting 401 errors.
Will give them a call today and see what I can figure out from there.. hope they are helpful.. last time I opened a query, they did not answer (they still have not given an answer) - 2 years later.

Sounds like an authentication problem. Hopefully they will help you sort that out. If not ,a few suggestions that come to mind. Firstly the obvious psswd/user name not correct. Secondly, if you are already registered on their server they normally will only accept one registration and are rejecting your second registration. Thirdly and not very likely your account has been locked to the mac address of your router. What did they give you by the way, was it a Gaoke? What are you using on your mobile, zoiper, linphone? or are you using your phones native app? Hope you get somewhere.

Some discrepancy that I can see with my account number, aswell as the 021 286 number they gave me - so will have to hash that out with them.
The router is a Branded GK-TEL FG8002N
I am not yet working on my phone, using 3cx and Zoiper on PC as an initial test before going to Mobile

Hope you get sorted out today. Once you're up and running perhaps you could fill in some details for me. The router looks interesting, I'm guessing they fixed you up with a user profile with no privileges so you can't alter settings yourself. At least you should be able to check settings if you need to. Anyway, please let me know how it goes.

@Donkey_hote managed to make it work with Zoiper and MizuDroid applications.
Quite simple really:
Log into your https://my.cybersmart.co.za account
You will see under services the name of your service for fibre.. that is your USERNAME for the service

All you need to do is get the SIP password and configure from there.
I managed to make, and receive phonecalls .. now just to figure out the local extention issue..

Wow, that is brilliant! Well done. Thanks for your efforts, this will save me a lot of messing around when I do get connected. Hopefully others will also appreciate this information. Regarding your local extension I wonder if it is as simple as dialling your flat number. Alternatively there may be some kind of speed dial set up you might be able to use, it seems to be called abbreviated dialing which is somewhere under voip supplementarysettings in the router. The phone book is under voip service phone bookwhere you might also find something to give you a clue. Thanks again for your time and effort, I for one am very grateful
cheers

Howzit bud, did you manage to get this done ?

My router (Huawei B618s-22d) also requires a SIP account name. Cybersmart suggested I use my username, but that was not accepted as it has a '-' in it.
Anyone have any solution?

What's the error message when you do try and accept this ?
Must be a Huawei issue (one of many)
