Exactly, it's not Pogi's fault he is levels above the rest, the competition should improve, but they can't at this stage of his career, otherwise they'll just have to accept their fate unfortunately.
It's only Vinegar that can match him in one Grand Tour. The rest of the other GC contenders don't come close, no matter how much the commentators want to talk up all these guys, most of them will just fade away, even the new young guns will struggle. There's always this new GC hope... at this time I don't see it.
 
I totally get what you guys are saying. But im a spectator. When i watch a test match and someone is destroying the opposition, i turn it off.

Same with the bokke, i didnt even watch. I want close games that can go either way.

Best stage so far today. Interesting tactics by Van der Poel. Didn't pay off and in the end he lost a little bit of time because of it. But still great stuff lol.

Bastille Day today which is the only reason today is not a rest day. Also the first big mountain stage. Gonna be good. Hopefully.
 
@Speedster @wbot You both always give very valid and insightful comments on this cycling thread, are you both active cyclists and regular followers of all things cycling?

Ever since I retired from Sasol, one of my great pleasures currently is to be able to sit down in the afternoon and be able to follow the entire stages of the big European tours. I try to be a cyclist, but I also need to know my limitations of being a 62 y/o recovering couch potato. Also, I have not been on my bicycle for 8 weeks now due to having had lens replacement surgery in both eyes. Only recently the ophthalmologist gave me the go-ahead to start cycling again, but the cold morning isn't helping me in my endeavor to get back on the saddle.

Luckily, I managed to go for a just under 40km ride yesterday morning, but I see that I have lost a LOT of fitness, it will be a while before I can go out and join our cycling club's Saturday morning group rides. But, I'll get there eventually.

Lifelong fan of the sport of cycling yes. Road, mountain, bmx, everything. Nothing beats the Tour though. Cycling is pretty much the main reason I still have dstv. And I'm lucky enough to be able to work from home during the Tour so my tv is on from start to finish every day :)

Active cyclist? Not anymore. Used to be a regular cyclist but I sold my bike a couple of years ago and haven't bought a new one since haha. Just didn't get many opportunities to go riding anymore, became too much of a hassle trying to find suitable roads, buddies to go cycling with, traffic has become insane etc. Just wasn't fun anymore. Keeping fit in other ways but I really should get a new bike again one day.

Another punchy stage today. van der Poel has been riding really well on these stages, and might be a good shout after the rest day. In theory Wout van Aert should be a contender, but he hasn't been his usual self this tour. And then one can never count out Tadej if he feels like giving it a go.
 
So a week or so ago a bunch of Cofidis' mens bikes were stolen and eventually recovered. Now they've apparently stolen all the bikes of the Cofidis women's team. Cofidis really need to do something about their lack of security.

Or they need to investigate all the people working for Cofidis.
 
Scary stuff for Tadej. Hope he's ok. Got back up and back to the group quickly though but hope there's no injury.

Also dumbass Palestine protestor moron at the finish. :mad:
