Hi all

I bought a 2500U fairly recently and immediately had a problem accessing pages on the web interface. I actually thought the problem was because the IP address was the same as the old modem and it had cached some of the pages but even after clearing my cache, changing the IP address and even using a different computer I get the same issues. I have lived with it but it has suddenly gotten very bad and I find there are more issues.

When it can't load the page I ask for it gives me a 400 error:
400 Bad Request
No request found.
micro_httpd

A Google search reveals that Billion routers have this problem regularly, which does not bode well for me and my modem. So obviously the router is not sending the correct information to the http server. It can happen on any page at any time. I sometimes have to click the same link 10 times to get the page to load.

Then once I set up a third and fourth PPPoE connection (with much trouble getting pages to load) in 'Diagnostics' when I click on next connection it only goes up to the second (bridge) connection. The third and fourth connections (PPPoE) apparently cannot be tested.

Anyone know why and how to fix either issue?

I get the same problem periodically with my 2500U, but it normally responds fine if I reload the page/click the link again.

However, I can understand that this might be a problem when trying to configure the device, with forms being resubmitted, etc.

I'm puzzled to hear that you need so many PPPoE connections, though. I'm not sure how competent the 2500U is at handling routing between the different interfaces that will be created. I recall that you were struggling with a VOIP phone, is that related to this in some way?

My 2500U is configured in bridge mode, to allow another router to establish PPPoE connections through it, as well as having its own IP address and PPPoE connection (for the infrequent case where my primary router get reinstalled with OpenWRT, and doesn't have PPPoE modules for some reason :-) This allows me to simply bring up the primary router's WAN interface with DHCP, and get Internet access back again )

Keep in mind that the 2500U has very limited resources (RAM, CPU, etc), and will probably struggle more when you push it to its limits.

Ours does it on occasion, but behaves itself for months on end afterwards. How long has the modem been running since the last restart?

It does eventually respond fine but that can be one repeated click or several. It's annoying and, yes, it makes setting up something with multiple option pages difficult. At the moment I get this error on every single page first click.

I should be able to have as many PPPoE connections as I like but I didn't say they should all be open at once. Unfortunately even if I disable all but the last one I can't diagnose those at the end.

This is not about VOIP, which I still do not have. I have given up on that like I am about to on ADSL.

I can set it up in bridge mode but it doesn't work so well (or maybe the router doesn't). I prefer leaving the PPPoE connection on my modem.

I have reset this modem today and it happens very regularly.

Replaced with a TP-Link TD-8840T and voila! no more problems.

D-Link is the single worst modem I have ever seen. To beat Billion on that is quite something.

Very little information on the net for the D-Link too. I just wanted to know what the colour the lights on the front should be burning when in bridged mode with my router making the connection - struggled to get an answer.

I also often get those issues with Chrome/Firefox.
Instead just use Internet Explorer when administering the D-Link via its web interface...
