I have a D-link 504G ADSL router, but it keeps on crashing if I'm using the internet or playing games. I've tried reset and even upgrading the firware but the problem persists. It seems like this happens more often while playing games - the game would just disconnect after 15-20mins of play and I can't access the router's interface afterwards. I then need to switch the router on/off to get it working again. This is very annoying.

Whats this setting for : Max Proto per AAL5 ?

Does this happen only when you play games or do this problem occur while surfing as well?

Hi Nick.

You swapped the 504G's (loan model) and its now working.
I'm going to pick up the 504T tomorrow from DCC and then I'll return the loan.

Dear All

The DSL-504G swop-out mission is not because the DSL-504G in a whole is faulty. The DSL-504G only has a negative effect on certain bad telkom ADSL lines. Thus we replace the G with the T. Which can work on all and all and all.
Don't take this as the DSL-504G not going to work. It does.
Thanks.

Hi Nick,

Does this mean that all 504G models will be replaced with the 504T model? If a swop out is required how do i go about swopping out my unit? I too, have had a few problems with the router when using IRC at around the same time each day. I normally then had to restart the application altogether. In the time that i had my router i only needed to reboot the router about 5 times in 5 months. At times i needed to reboot the router for some unknown reason as the router would just be deadlocked. It was hard for me to establish if the problem is due to a hardware problem or a router problem.

Just one last question will the new model still cause problems with MSN and yahoo when using video and or voice ?

Cheers,

Lochner

Dear Lochner

If your unit starts with the serial number DQ9L146.... then by all means take it back to where you bought it from and opt for a swop-out.
