Hi

Im looking to get a D-Link adsl modem\router, D-LINK 4 PORT ETHERNET BROADBAND ROUTER DI-604/E is the modle i wanna get, but i was wondering if they are a good brand? Has anyone got a D-Link modem\router? Does it work well?

Any other feedback with this product would b greatly appreciated!

Thanks

They're pretty decent, and support from D-Link in Centurion is pretty good, but one caveat: the D-Link products use oddball power transformers that have odd voltages. The 604T, if I remember right, is 12 or 15V *AC*, and almost impossible to replace short of buying from D-Link themselves.

Meaning what?

Im not very clued up when it comes to Routers

They good enough to last a few years?

I've had no problems with the routers themselves, but I've had three or four power supplies blow on customer routers (lightning, surges, or whatever), and you can't dash up to a shop to get a generic 12 Volt DC 1 Amp replacement transformer, you end up having to drive to Centurion to get one (or book the entire router in for "repairs", with a two-week turnaround time).

DLink is crap. The only thing i'll use from them is a normal HUB. Get a Netgear one, they're excellent.

I've got the DLink ISDN 304 which is sitting under a pile of rubbish somewhere, I have had not a single day's problem with DLink. I don't use it cause I'm not on ISDN

mine does the job, which is funny cause if you read the forums of other countires people whine about it not working yet mine does everything its suppose to. I'm just sad I can't make it use two accounts via the web interface. I wonder what will come in this year's firmware update :) (they add things sometimes, like last one had a site blocker)

I have D-Link PCI cards and they're brilliant. Got a Netgear router as well which is way better than the Linksys one I used to have.

I had a D-Link Router and ADSL Modem as two seperate devices. They worked well together and never had a problem using them. Just don't be surprised if theres a power surge and the transformer fries... Replacing them are not easy, as said earlier they use funny voltages and currents.
As long as your running from a surge protected socket you should be just fine and they'll a good few years.

No problems

I've also had no problems with Dlink products.

Have installed 2 x DSL-G604T (4-port wireless), 2 x DSL-504T (4-port no wireless) routers, 3 x DSL-300T modems. Never had a hassle with the unit or powersupply. Though all in Cape Town where lightening is less of an issue.

ps: some of the units have been running for over 2 years
