As a follow-on to my wireless repeater thread :)

Does anyone have experience with DAP-1155 by D-Link? I'm looking for user experiences in terms of stability/signal strength and reliability.

Cheers

We have only used as an AP and not tried Bridge mode. We have found signal strength ok (has a tiny antenna) - perfect for a small room, but stability on the other has not been great.

We purchased several and at two different clients received a very strange problem. Intermittently the AP locks the network - it locks it so badly that non of the PCs can ping anything (even if the PC has a static IP address.) As soon at the AP has been removed the whole network suddenly comes alive.

That's worrying - have you updated the firmware?

Has anyone else had similar/other experiences with the DAP-1155?

if you are having problems with any of your D-Link products, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected]

I am having the exact same problem - I have had to remove the units (2 of them) as they hang the network so badly and as soon as they are remove all comes back to life - Any solutions out there or purchase new Aps

Cheers

Damn, wish I had found this thread before purchasing this thing. I am having the exact same issue as above... Any solution yet?

Thanks.

I also experienced weird & not so wonderful things with the DAP-1155.

I swopped it for a DAP-1360 & it is a bazillion times better. It only cost about R150 more.

So I just joined mybroadband to post this. All those having trouble with their D-Link DAP-1155 WAP killing their network, try resetting it to default settings. I know it sounds *duh*, but after having done that I haven't had a problem in a week, and believe I've fixed it. All I did was reset settings to default, and then redid the wireless SSID/WPA settings for my home network.

I have a feeling that the problem was related to the settings under:
LAN Setup -> LAN IPV4 CONNECTION TYPE and DYNAMIC IP (DHCP) LAN CONNECTION TYPE.

I'd fiddled with those originally, changing it to static (for funzies to make my network more "pro"). I had correct settings there, but it kept randomly blocking my whole network on static, and still did it when I manually reverted it back to dynamic. I noticed that the boxes for Gateway Address, Primary DNS Server and Secondary DNS Server were still white (possibly storing invalid values behind the scenes), whereas they'd been greyed out before, which gave me the idea to reset all to default (proper factory reset). You can change the SSID/WPA/whatever else settings, but don't touch the LAN SETUP page. It should have all 5 IP address information boxes greyed out.

Hope this helps. The internet doesn't seem to use this AP much so I fought with the thing for over a month and was about to return it when I got lucky.

Nevermind... 2 Weeks later and it's up to its old stories. Guess I'll swap it out.

Posting this will probably curse me... but;

I have one... in Bridge mode... zero issues.

I use it to get 2 non Wireless PCs onto the WiFi router which is not too far, so although its range is bluuurgh, for me it is not an issue.
Saves me running cables to the router or having to purchase WiFi things for them.

2xLAN cables into it, and it to via WiFi to router.
I have been using it for around 8 months now with no LAN hang issues at all, leave it on 24/7 even when PCs are off.

Firmware Version : V1.01 , 15 May 2012
802.11mode: n only
Chanel width: Auto 20/40MHz

Ooh, new firmware! I've been looking EVERYWHERE for this... Although the release notes don't mention stability fixes, but lets hope.

Hi

I have no problems with mine... it really does shunt a lot of wireless data between machines and the main router.
It stays on 24/7 (no power switch) and machines have no trouble reconnecting after hibernation or power-on.

Maybe it is firmware ... or maybe it is because I have been lucky... new firmware is always welcome tho'.

Here's hoping it works for you.

PM me if you need me to send you this firmware...
