I bought a D-Link DSL-2500U and can't get port forwarding to work. I have a server on my LAN with a static IP address. I can ssh to the server on port 22 from the LAN. On the DSL-2500U I add a virtual host with the local static IP address and remote and local ports set to 22. There is a remote IP which I don't fill. Save and reboot the router and then try to ssh on port 22 on my WAN IP address. Getting connection refused.
It works perfectly on my old modem/router if I swap the routers.
I upgraded to the latest firmware for the DSL-2500U (T1) and also downgraded to the original firmware again.
Also factory resetted a few times.
No luck. Am I doing something wrong or missing something?

I also had issues with this device doing the exact same thing.
Sometimes it works then it just stops.

What a useless device. Also this model "T" seems to be only made in south africa.
Also had some issues with their ALG implementation. Now just using it as a modem, even then having issues with it. Am very unimpressed atm

Swapped the D-Link DSL-2500U for a Billion BiPac 5210S RC. Don't know if this is a good thing, but it was the only other modem/router in this range in the store. Will check tonight.

Some feedback: I did not like the Billion and is back with the D-Link. I contacted D-Link Tech Support about the issue and will provide feedback once I hear from them.

Billion is seriously *** and the D-Link is kakker.

Cut your losses and get a TP-Link TD-8840T (http://www.tp-link.us/products/details/?categoryid=&model=TD-8840T)

I had no end of problems with the D-Link to the point that we had no VOIP for 6 months and no internet for days at a time. The Billion sort of worked for a few days but then always lost all its settings.

The support for either in this country is non-existent. What a futile endeavour.

The replacement TP-Link worked out of the box with just the ADSL settings needed. Changing any settings is a breeze and everything works well!
