D-Link DSL-2750U dropping connection frequently. Help please!

Hello, guys!

Sorry for my English, I am from Russia. I've bought the same D-Link router you discuss here and have several problems including dropping connection and impossibility to save virtual servers. My local D-Link support does not answer my questions, so I am seeking for an alternative for firmware for my 2750u. One of this is from SA. But I am afraid a bit to use it because of possible incompatibility of HW. Could you please let me know: what HW version is on the label of your router? Mine is C1. Thanks in advance.

Mine is T1

Stoked

So far so good with the new firmware.

Had 3 drops but I think it could of been DSLAM related.

Sitting on about 38 hours up time at the moment and am smiling ear to ear.
The other thing fixed is even after the drop, it does not require a manual reboot, it seems to eventually re-establish the connection automatically(which I am used to D-Link routers normally doing) The time frame for the reconnect is a bit iffy as it's been up to 40 minutes but at the same time, I was not around when it happened so if it was DSLAM, it could of been Telkom working on it. Will monitor over the next few days and see what's potting but holding thumbs and touching wood that it keeps going like it currently is:)

Hi, reflexes, I swapped the same router for the same DLink and had the same problem, until I put the old filter and the new one into the lines.Mine is dropping daily,so you are doing quite well. The filters should help and a bad connection outside my need a fix.I got so confused by the stats, particularly the changing network key info on the set up site, that I screwed up our whole set up.I downloaded password finding progs and got a shedload of viruses. After three days of getting nowhere when trying to connect to the Internet,I rang the 0860 243 578 number and they got me on line in two ticks and so far no drops in 8 hours. My big issue now is I cant get my laptop,iPod and Android to Wirelessly connect and the whole house is giving me hell. Anybody out there know what settings, like WAPS and WEPS etc and passwords one uses to set up these toys. Im a 69 year old dinosaur by the way so if you have any kind advice, please talk to me like a baby, cos I'm confused and totally brassed off. Thanks. dajman.

Just go to Wireless Setup Wizard - choose a name for your Wireless Network, Manually Assign a network key (can be anything you like), use WPA encryption, create a password of minimum 8 characters, hit 'save', problem solved.

Just an update - I've got one of these units, this is my second unit, the other one was a nightmare, dropped about 8 - 10 times a day. This second unit is running the latest firmware, it's the 3rd or 4th release. It has dropped a few times, but it's been way more stable....it seems to have it's days. The firmware has not completely resolved the issue, but it's better. Still not great considering I had a much older model Dlink that never dropped. Also just to confirm the drops only occur over the wireless, all the wireless devices will disconnect, I've had a direct cable connected while it happens and one can browse the internet freely, while it re-establishes the wifi connection. Very dissapointing stuff from Dlink though and where is the tech feedback here on mybroadband?

The latest firmware 1.65 has been stable for me. Didn't have another drop since. Only thing is that my max sync is 3mb instead of 4mb. I did point it out to Dlink for future firmware releases.

lucky you, i've also got the latest firmware....today has been the worse, it's dropped about 15 - 20 times....

Firmware Version: AF_1.65_R01

Hey all, sorry to bump an old thread. How often were your drops occurring? I just got a new 2750U this evening and it's been up for 2 and a half hours with no hiccups on the AF_1.60_R01 firmware. Should I update?

I think my SNR is quite low, too:
Downstream Upstream
Line Coding(Trellis): On On
SNR Margin (dB): 266 180
Attenuation (dB): 435 250
Output Power (dBm): 9 -14
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 7136 900
Rate (Kbps): 384 128
D (interleaver depth): 1 1
Delay (msec): 0.13 0.25

Attenuation has always been horrible on my line. I swapped out the old telkom POTS filter I had when we got the ye-olde 5102G modem put in with the DLink one, should I change it back? Phones are fine.

@ biltong - my drops was sometimes about 4 per hour and sometimes it held up for up to 2 hours...never more than 2 hours

In that case I think mine is doing well. This thing is brand new out of box so I think if it ain't broke don't fix it - but just out of curiosity, are there any new features or anything like that in the new firmware?

Nope, only thing that happened apart from the line that holds up for me is the wifi that drops every now and again (but goes on by itself) is the fact that I only sync @ 3mb on my 4mb line

2 days later and not a single connection drop. Wireless has been rock solid, too. Perhaps there was a bad batch?

Who knows. A friend of mine just bought the 2750u and I immediately updated the firmware for him before he could even use it.
He hasn't had any issues thus far with it. I do believe in the new firmware. Regarding the wireless, I got the occasional wireless drop in my place as well on both the old and the new firmware. Quite a strange one but I thought it was maybe my distance from the router and interference in the house from electrical appliances or something.

I setup a 2750U & a DAP1360 last weekend.

All the Dlink devices have been updated & are running the latest firmware.

Everything works well for five minutes & then all wireless clients (a mixture of tablets, phones & PS3) disconnect.

I tried all sorts of things - Changing settings, moving devices around etc. In the end, I changed the Wireless channel from 1 to 9 & there hasn't been a single wireless disconnect since then.

The only other wireless device in the house or surrounding area I could find, was one of those DSTV Remote Blaster Infrared devices.

Hi all

I need some advice. I have the same D-Link DSL 2750U adsl router which I bought from Mustek in CT on the 28/05/2012. I haven't had any problems at all until this Wednesday.

My phone line does not work when the router is connected. As soon as I disconnect the phone line from the router then my phone line works again.

The phone therefore works on its own and when the router is connected I can connect to the internet but I cannot use the 2 together anymore.

Does anyone know why this has happened?

Thanks in advance.

@Fuzzymodo do you have a POTS filter connected to the line?!?

If not, add one, around R40 from a Telskum shop.

If you have one, try replacing it.
